Yeah the mod devs said they are working on an update and it should be taken care of soon. Think they said they were going to get one up just to have it working with the current version and then another one with more updates to the game itself.

That explains it... I did the tutorial and it said that an ambition can be set for every character, but the tutorial was wrong about everything else (including, but not limited to, the position of buttons) so it seem natural it would be wrong about this too.

Yeah I wish there was a better way of prepping your heir for your eventual demise. Sucks to have all your plans quashed, new guy comes in and everyone is like "we don't like you." Sure it makes sense if my heir is 12 but If I live to a ripe old age and my 30 year old firstborn son takes over... cmon people!

Yeah that is what happened to me too. The real game is a tad boring compared to GoT for me. Going to stick with my plan to try and unite Ireland I guess during the William the Conqueror era. Used to having the armies of Winterfell at my disposal though so only having the small army of one little county will take some getting used to.

Oh and browsing the GoT forums there is another add-on to the mod that will also add some of the Free Cities into the game now as well including Volantis, Pentos, Qohor and one other place I don't recall at the moment. There are no playable characters in the areas but there are events that can correspond with them including hiring free companies to help you in your battles.

I been trying but damn foreign powers keep interfering. I've united the Duchy of Meath and Leinster and had taken Ulster when stupid Norway interfered and claimed Ulster with their 15k army.

I did Leinster -> Meath Duchies, then moved south. Ormond -> Desmond -> de jure claim on Thormond. I became allies with both Connacht and Briefne, and called them in to roll Thormond. From there I claimed the crown as King of Ireland. Since I was buddies with those two guys, they accepted vassal positions. Then the rest until Ulster accepted being vassals. Ulster didn't stand long against the rest of the Ireland at that point.

Yeah the three southern territories are currently allied. Ormond had been under the control of foreign powers but they were taken by Desmond/Thormond. Oriel and Tyrone are both currently part of the kingdom of Wales, and like I said Ulster is Norway. Working on fabricating claims to Connacht now but I've had crap luck with my Chancellor's lately. When I finally got a good one he died of illness within a month. My current one has like 8 diplomacy and inviting more nobles to court hasn't worked to improve that.

You guys talking about this has made me start one trying to unite Ireland as well. I have Connacht and Briefne now, but can't get a claim fabricated on any of the other areas to be able to go to war. I hate not being able to choose to go to war if I want and having to have a reason.

It's kind of a blessing in disguise for me. If I could just go to war anytime, I would be too likely to streamroll dudes and then have a really fragile kingdom. I like having a few years of peace now and then to force me to spend money on infrastructure.

That's a good point. I just wish there was a way to press claims more reliably than the chancellor...'cause I haven't found one that can do it.

Been playing this for most of a year. If you're looking for other options to expand in the Ireland example, you could find the daughter of a ruler, marry her, then kill any brothers/sisters in front of her for inheritance. Children are typically very easy to kill. Or find a female with a claim you can press (women can only press games against children or other women), marry her to your heir, then press them. If you're successful, when she dies your son should end up with it.

Something to do while you're waiting for claims to fabricate.

Yeah I managed to unite all of Ireland except for the Duchy of Ulster now and formed the Kingdom of Ireland. Just in time for the Empire of Britannia to be formed and start raping everyone and declaring war on me. I did marry my heir to the duchess of Dublin when that was the only area of southern Ireland I didn't control and she ended up being the only heir. So my heir was also the heir to Dublin once both parents died I got Dublin nice and easy too. After that I took Connacht and Belfine.

I married the princess from France so when England got ballsy I could call on them to help. Haven't had the need yet, although I helped them (with my 200 troops) take back the mainland from England.

Meh the majority of my so-called allies never answer my call to arms. Only the more immediate neighbors have done so for me if there were family relations.
