I feel like the overall take-away from today is that following professional hockey involves a lot of grief-management that is not necessarily covered by all the beers

Think about it, even if your team winning was utter fluke, bullshit baffles brains, and a mix of right bounces and lucky saves, your team still won.
Where would you rather be: Sucking hind tit, but as a defending Champ until the next playoffs, or 3 straight #1 overall picks into a brilliant rebuild that looks good on paper, but pretty much the same size as that piece of paper on the ice? (Yes, back to my "The Oilers are icing a roster of garden gnomes" bitching.)
The Oilers beat Columbus today, but so could Gandhi. They also managed like a dozen shots the entire game. Pretty solid for a team of young future All-stars... wait. I still think they could make the playoffs, but unless they add some toughness (sorry, but Hordichuk and Eager don't strike fear into the hearts of anything.) they'll get pushed around at will.
