In case anyone is curious, looks like Redden to STL for $800k this year with bonuses making that $1mil if he does certain stuff which I didn't bother to read. Probably number of games played.

Also, while you all are waiting for tomorrow, I have to wait till Sunday

    Crack the lineup?

Like I posted earlier, Gomez's numbers in NYR and first year as a hab werent any worse than his prime days as a Devil. Last two seasons were fuckawful though, my fat ass could probably produce better numbers. He'd be a good deal for 1.5m (he cant get any worse, can he?), but with his past 2 seasons, and considering he's still getting paid by the habs, I'd be surprised if he gets offered any more than 1m.

See, teams wanting Redden as like a 4~6 defencemen makes sense to me, cheap cost and the guy has a good track record. Teams wanting Gomez with his 1 goal in 100 games pace (or whatever it was), that confuses me. I suppose one could make the argument that he was good way back when and could theoretically be good again, and at a cheap cost it's a risk worth taking.

Any team that picks up redden will have to be prepared for all the tripping penalties that come with it.

Simon Despres made the team, Beau Bennett didn't for now... Bylsma said Tangradi will get line time with Neal/Malkin when trailing or even, but is thinking of having it be Tanner Glass / Malkin / Neal when leading / even as he wants someone with more two way prowess getting that kind of minutes when trying to prevent goals against and frankly Stephen Hawking could play a better 2way game than Eric Tangradi.

Redden could get some inflated numbers from PP points if they put him out there with Pietrangelo though.
    But for 800k, why not?

Did I read correctly in that the association known as the National Hockey League will be giving the fans of said league, a week preview of Center Ice to open the season?

You guys think its worth $120 to go to the Rangers game sunday? Home opener, Pitt, but I would miss a raiding night of wow (lol) and have to deal with some annoying fellows for a few hours (plus spending probably 150ish total).

Here's how our oversees Leafs did (Lupul, Kulemin, Grabovski, Komarov):

Lupul - Stayed a month in the KHL. Didn't score much, but then he did sign with the lowest place team in the league. When he came back, he couldn't even name the KHL Trophy so there you go. Hey, at least he skated, but he didn't exactly light it up either.

Kulemin - Excellent trip, had 14 goals and 24 assists for 38 points in 36 games, over a Point PG. Pretty impressive in the KHL especially at his age! But it's hard to say this is a fair read, because he scored massive point numbers...

on a line with Evgeni Malkin.

And he got 7 Power play goals, that's half his production... on a line with Evgeni Malkin. On, at the time and for most of the season, the best Power play in the KHL.

Oh and their Centre was the Sidney Crosby of the KHL - The league's current scoring leader on a line with Evgeni Malkin.

So that makes him the 3rd guy on a line with three people. I don't think this makes him any sort of hero, but he's game ready and he played with some pretty top tier talent. If he gets... 14 goals this season? That's pretty good. Keep in mind the Rocket Richard this year is gonna go to someone with like 30 goals.

Grabovski - Played with Radulov and Datsuyk. 12 Goals and 12 assists for 24 points in 29 games, but he got off to a slow-ish start (he wasn't playing with Malkin or the scoring leader, for example). I don't see Kulemin outscoring Grabovski this season, but Grabbo had two overtime winners in the KHL. What a hero - We love Grabbo because there is no ounce of quit in him.

Komarov - Most of you don't know this guy, so let me tell you how his last year panned out:

Played in KHL playoffs with Dynamo Moscow. He's beating faces inwards, pissing people off... there was one game where he bugged a guy and the guy took a two handed slash at him, and broke his stick. Guy gets kicked out at key moment, they go on to win. Most leafs agree - he is a pain in the ass, and being an Estonian-born Finn with perfect Russian makes him a multilingual pain in the ass to boot.

Dynamo Moscow wins the Gagarin Cup.

Komarov goes to the coach and says "Coach... Look, I've conquered this, now I want to pursue my dream to join the NHL". Coach says "ok". The team releases Komarov from contract, and he enters the draft. Signs with the Leafs at 6th overall.

And here he is. He hasn't played much on a NA ice surface, but he had some time with the Marlies with 6G 3A for 9 points in 14 games. When the lockout started, he was Assistant captain.

The lockout happens and he goes back to Dynamo Moscow and says "Well, I prob wouldn't have left if I knew this would happen but can I join you guys until the NHL restarts?" They say ok.

He notices Dynamo Moscow is a bit different these days, because hes on a line with Niklaus Backstrom and Alexander Ovechkin.

In 13 games games he had 2 goals and 8 assists for 10 points, but he wasn't trying to be something else either. He's not a dummy in the offensive zone but he's not a big scoring talent either. He was the one slamming people in the boards, fighting for space in front of the net, being a huge pest, and making space for Ovechkin and Backstrom.

But let's put it this way, if he can play on that line, he can play for the Toronto Maple Leafs. In what role? I have no idea, we'll have to see.
