thoughts for a 6th / criticism? Fire and psychic would help round out coverage a bit but there aren't many good options at the moment for both... Delphox kinda sucks
Psychic has garbage coverage don't really need it, You have Gengar to check and anus rape Fighting types with Dazzling gleam as well as Dark types, I am assuming your Tyrantrum has Strong Jaw so you should look into breeding him a Fire Fang and probably remove stealth rock cause he has some bad weaknesses and probably last to set up and switch Stone Edge with Ice fang and Roar with Dragon Dance all have to be through breeding though. Reason for removing Stone edge and Roar is because Strong Jaw increases Bite type moves by 50% basically they have STAB.

Fire Fang would give you Super effective: ICE - BUG - GRASS - STEEL (4)
Ice Fang would give you Super effective: DRAGON - GROUND - GRASS - FLYING (7)
Earthquake would give you Super effective: ROCK - FIRE - POISON - STEEL - ELECTRIC (11)
Dragon Dance: Ups ATT and SPEED by 1 stage.

I know you're like wtf no Stone edge? Well because Stone Edge's accuracy is 80 and a missed stone edge means goodbye Tyrantrum in alot of cases even if it has STAB you have a fuckton more coverage this way with his insane attack. Now all 4 of these moves are through breeding if you really want to do it then I would go for a Jolly Nature with the same EV's and I propose this set really if you take a Scolipede as your 6th.

Scolipede will be there for support using Baton pass, have Scolipede use Swords Dance and will gain a speed boost after its first turn and Baton Pass it to Tyrantrum. A +1 Speed boost Tyrantrum with the above set will now out speed base 130 Speed pokemon with correct nature and EV's and has +2 Attack stages this fucker is ready to rip off everyones mongolian ass brackets and if you predict a switch on your Tyrantrum use Dragon Dance and it's Gameover, Dragon Dance is also good if you have Tyrantrum out and your Scolipede got fucked.

Scolipede Jolly ATT 252, SPD 252, HP 4
    Protect
    Swords dance
    Baton pass
    Megahorn

That is actually a really good idea. Thanks dude. Only question is this completely removes hazards from my team - does it matter?

Slight adjustment I'd personally make is to put Sludge Bomb on Venusaur in case an annoying ass Fairy type like Sylveon shows up. Swap out with EQ or HP (depending on its type). Might want to also consider giving Scizor or Gengar a Mega stone, that way you have options available to you and aren't locked in with Venusaur as your only Mega.

Delphox is great, shut your mouth! Was really sad that she (yes she, a male Delphox is terrible..) couldn't learn scald, but grass knot kinda makes up for it. Wish she could learn thunderbolt like was originally rumored though..

    Edit:
If you're considering Scolipede, I'd almost say use Toxic Spikes over Stealth Rock -- but that might just be that I've always had good luck with them and am partial to them.

Well the Venusaur build really relies on the Mega for Thick Fat - it makes Venusaur an absurdly good wall, with only 2 weaknesses and built to take hits. I think Sludge Bomb has a place on his slot, but I was hoping his HP was Fire - I still need to check. Hidden Power got all fucked up this generation and I've heard it's linked to IVs now, which is rough...

I don't see the point in running multiple mega stones on a team because it guarantees that one of your pokemon is holding an useless item at some point in the match.

Toxic Spikes on Scolipede is good in theory but there's no move to drop. The build suggested by Roundelk is rock solid - Protect to get your boost up, SD, baton out, and megahorn because why would I leave it with no actual attacks.

I don't *need* to have hazards, though, especially since I'm not running defog or rapid spin anywhere

I'm confused about how Protect is used.

My understanding is it works for one attack. Are you just using it over and over until you they buff instead of attack in order to get your own up? It has a 50% decay on success though... It seems to be that unless your opponent guesses wrong and buffs instead you won't be able to maintain protect.

There are a lot of reasons to want to use Protect in competitive play. A stalled turn can mean more damage from a hazard, a status, a recurring damage move, etc.; it can mean more healed HP from a held item, Aqua Ring, etc,; and it can mean activating abilities. For example, I'd open with it on Scolipede because Speed Boost will activate on its 2nd turn in play.

Protect is also not bad for scouting out what the opponent is running. All of a sudden you see some of their cards with just a single Protect, and if you know the meta game, one move seen might teach you a lot more than just that one move.

Does that turn stalled help with putting up a buff though? I guess my question is does Protect necessarily help putting up a buff? If it only covers that turn used, and you guess wrong and your opponent buffs, you are losing out. What is the benefit over taking a hit to get your buff up? Is it merely to try to play a guessing game where your shield gets less effective quickly?

I obviously haven't played any of the meta-game. Just trying to understand the benefit in this situation.

He's basically trying to just use Protect on his first turn to let Scolipedes ability raise his speed without going splat. Then pops Baton Pass on next turn and transfers the speed boost onto someone else.

the benefit is you don't get hit? lol. you're not going to be using it successively so the diminishing returns don't really enter into play much here. I want my scolipede alive long enough to pass its boosts on, and it ain't doing that without protect. Simple as that

I understood the Speed Boost, but didn't understand the benefit for Sword Dance.

All right so it's just for the guessing game to buff then. That's all I was looking for.

Going by Roundelk's post, would you not benefit more from using Sword Dance first turn and also get Speed Boost at the end of the turn? The only thing would be that you get hit. As long as you can take that hit and Baton Pass out on the next turn then Protect wouldn't be needed.

Then again I guess that's what the guessing game is all about.

    turn 1: protect
turn 2: speed boost activate #1. use swords dance
turn 3: speed boost activate #2. use protect
turn 4: speed boost activate #3. use baton pass

your passee gets +3 Speed +2 Attack and your scolipede has taken one hit (likely one, since by turn 4 you have +3 speed, even if you are losing the speed base battle you probably get first go here).

    ya dig?

Got it. You're staying in two turns longer than I thought you were. I was thinking you were mainly looking for the Sword Dance and the Speed Boost was just an added bonus.

I'm going to be horrible at this battling stuff. I can see it already.

Does anyone have a 4/5 IV ditto they could part with? I have been trying to find one for 3 days with no luck and I would really like to move along with breeding to team.

Hidden Power has always been linked to IVs. The only change was the power is no longer linked to IVs and always a static 60 (it used to be a range between 30 and 70)

From what I've read the calculations for the Type are still the same and there is no Fairy-type

Which hidden abilities do Eevees get and is it important enough that I should get one from a safari instead of the wild? I don't think anyone here has an Eevee safari, do they...

Sylven gets Pixilate instead of Cute Charm. (Normal moves converted to Fairy type instead of 30% chance of infatuation on contact)
Vaporeon gets Hydration instead of Water Absorb (Status problems are healed in the rain instead of getting 1/4th of your HP back when hit with a Water attack)
Jolteon gets Quick Feet instead of Volt Absorb (Paralysis doesn't drop speed and instead increases it by 50% instead of getting 1/4th of your HP back when hit with an Electric attack)
Flareon gets Guts instead of Flash Fire (Attack is boosted by 50% when under a status problem & no drop Attack drop from Burn instead of increasing your Sp. Atk by 50% [once] when hit with a Fire attack [and being immune to Fire])
Espeon gets Magic Bounce instead of Synchronize (All status lowering moves/entry hazards/status ailment moves and Taunt/Torment are reflected back to the user instead of giving opponent the same status problems you have)
Umbreon gets Inner Focus instead of Synchronize (Immunity to Flinch instead of giving your opponent the same problems you have)
Leafeon gets Chlorophyll instead of Leaf Guard (Speed is boosted by 2x when the weather is sunny instead of being immune to status problems when the weather is sunny)
Glaceon gets Ice Body instead of Snow Cloak (1/8th of your HP is recovered in Hail instead of receiving damage instead of raising evasion by 20% in Hail)
