Unfortunately I think I might be done with this game..since my 3DS is apparently bricked and pokemon was the only reason I still had one anyway. It would be too much of a pain in the ass to send it off and have it repaired, and I can't afford a new one.

guess I'll just remove myself from the FC doc..

Not sure what triggered it, but it just started crashing randomly a couple weeks ago. The pokemon patch seemed to have fixed it, and then it started up again today. Doesn't matter if I sit at the 3DS home screen or if i actually make it into any game (physical or digital), after a minute or two the screen goes black with an error, just saying to power down and try again. Tried with the wifi on and off, same result both ways.

I haven't seen any fixes on the net other than send it to 'tendo and have them look at it for a fee.

There are battle simulators online. Multiples even. It sort of makes the cheating extra stupid because if they really only cared about the battling they could just do it there.
The only point to cheating was getting some random pokemon that involves a bullshit event impossible to get to and even then trading is an important part of the game so you can find a person rolling in those things you'd have had to buy a plane ticket to get thanks to the wonders of the internet. The days of there being a single solitary mew passed around by everyone to enjoy are over.

So, I tried out the GTS thing. Gotta say, I hate like 95% of people on it. Nearly every fucking pokemon I searched wanted some legendary that wasn't in the game yet in trade. The only good thing about it is somehow I managed to get a Dragonair for a Zangoose. Other than that, absolute shit.

The point is you have to bother with them if you want to battle competitively. If you don't then you don't stand a chance in most cases. IV is the annoying part imo.

Don't know about the first part, but in previous games, Scizor learned Bug Bite through Move Tutor. No move tutor for that in this game.

Not with technician and bug bite being stab. And thats my point... why leave out the frekjn tutors its retarded.... so many builds I want to try and cant do any of them until december...

There's really no good reason for the lack of move tutors. It was dumb in black and white too. Probably will be back in Z though, which is incredibly stupid. The reason for not including everything is, I think, partially to get people to invest in the bank (which really is an amazing deal no matter how you look at it), but also I think because of the tradition of the games. It's always been that you have to trade and that newer generations have not had every pokemon. This is the first game that has ever had multiple starters, but those used to be some of the hardest pokemon to get. In black and white, I got so many rare pokemon just by offering starters in GTS. Pretty sure I got multiple Reshirims, Zekroms, and other legendaries that way. I think the annoyance is compounded by the fact that the bank isn't available yet, but that's just the way the games have always been.

Right, but before this game, the things you had to do to be competitive were equally annoying. It's just now, everyone can easily compete, and the other aspects have been simplified so people are getting frustrated now that they can easily do some parts of it, but the other is still a pain in the ass. EV training and breeding have been vastly simplified. And as annoying as getting the right IVs is (went to bed at 4:30 and still don't have that perfect Torchic..) it's still infinitely easier than it was during the previous generations.

Those days ended last gen.. or 2 gens ago, I forget which. Whenever they introduced the online trading and wifi distribution events put an end to it.

How much does Nintendo charge, and I take it it's out of warranty? Nintendo's usually pretty good about getting their fixes done quickly -- I remember with SSBB when people's Wiis couldn't play it and I had to send mine in. They got it back pretty quickly and I haven't had a problem since.

This happened to an old 3DS of mine... If it makes you feel any better, my little brother is using it now (About ayear later) and its working perfectly fine again. So... yah. Literally word for word exactly what happened to mine. Turn it on > Few moments later crashes to error screen.

Problem I have with the bank is that, unless you can breed the move tutor moves over, which I don't think you can, you don't get the new breeding mechanics to help with IVs and stuff.

Also, pokerus + battle item + swarm = 50 EV per fight, fuck super training

40 if they give 2 per, 60 if they give 3.

Cause it gets doubled twice... So, 1x2=2, 2x2=4, 4x5=20 (Steps are Pokerus, Belt, #ofPokemon)

I'm contacting Nintendo support today to get an actual number, or see if there is any hope at all. I'm 90% certain that it is out of warranty, It's an old original 3DS that I've had since day 1.

Did you send it off for repairs or it just kinda start working again on its own?

Edit: Well, it seems to have corrected itself again..at least temporarily. Not sure if I want to be happy or frustrated.
