Oops, totally skip over links when no quotes are posted from them usually. >.> My bad!
I dunno, unless they're adding a new stat or something that makes the games incompatible, I'd honestly be surprised if this was the last we hear about this. Like the article says, they're working on it. I feel ever since Generation 3 they've allowed people to transfer from previous version so you could, like the second article I linked, essentially keep all your pokemon from one game to the next. I feel that, more than anything else, is the reason there were remakes of Generation 1 and 2. The other issue I see, if they can't fix this, it'd be next to impossible to get all 700+ pokemon unless they create a vastly expanded dreamworld-esque option.
I'm guessing this just means ALOT more Wifi events for legendaries and old starters and crap. Theres no way they're gonna have a Pokedex with 700+ Pokemon where you can never fill in most of it. On a separate note, I SERIOUSLY hope they fix the HM system. Walking around with 1-2 slots on your team reserved for HM slaves is total ass.
One of the cool features of the games was to be able to get pokemons from previous games. I don't see how anyone can see it as good news.
People getting into the game for the first time in a long time will be on the same playing field when it comes to PvP. I haven't played since diamond/pearl, so would be at a pretty big disadvantage picking this one up in multi player.
That being said, I wouldn't mind if they found a way for trading from old versions, but I don't necessarily see it as a bad thing, either. I'm indifferent to it
PvP in Pokémon is ass to much switch around gets very boring very fast, they have to limit the time at tournaments because people will literally just swap spam after they add an effect to the fight, also one reason why a lot and i do mean a lot of people are happy about fairies been dragon kryptonite
lol though I briefly played diamond/pearl, the series died to me when my Ruby cartridge with 400+ hours was pawned by one of my uncle's crack head clients to buy more from my uncle @.@;
Will be nice to fully jump in again fresh
My girlfriend was looking through used cartridges at a Gamestop here and ended up coming across a copy of Silver that was a motherlode of shiny and legendary Pokemon. I can only imagine that someone had stolen and traded the thing in, causing similar levels of emotional scarring.
Holy grail for me will still be when it's an MMO and all our stuff can just get stored online on Nintendo-run servers, but I figure we're getting near that point soon anyway with all the online-only stuff.
I don't ever wanna go through the shit that was waiting 2 years to get a Tyranitar and Blissey that occured in Gen III. Not one game has ever had all non legendary s available in a single cart excluding version exclusives since the origanal Red and Blue.
i'm also going to hope for a home pokemon game with a portable ability (like how Monster hunter is) HD pokemon with 3d modeling could be a very good game on the Wii U but not happening, i have a feeling this gen will be a lot like 4's and have a few older gen pokemon filling up its base dex before end game
Will play the game regardless of old pokes being transferable. I mean it'd suck to lose out the bred pokes and what not, but starting fresh.. would be interesting to see how it goes.
I have never played a pokemon game competitively in my life. Never did any trading either. I never played Black or White , heargold/silver, and I don't think I even finished beating diamond/pearl.
That being said, even in the slightly older games, I missed having all the pokemon from previous generations available.
Maybe I'll pick up a 3ds and this game and try to start up on the competitive scene. Though never bothering to do it before, I have a feeling I'll quickly be out of my league.
