I JUST BOUGHT A 3DS TOO YOU LITTLE SHITS
Spoiler: showJunichi Masuda, Director of Game Freak, creator of the highly anticipated Pokémon X and Pokémon Y video games, launching worldwide October 12, 2013, for the Nintendo 3DS family of systems, released a special video message today for fans gathered at the Japan Expo in Paris. An all-new Pokémon, Honedge, was revealed together with Mr. Masuda’s personal insights into his inspiration for the new titles—France.
It is now known that Honedge comes into being when a departed spirit possesses a sword that once belonged to humans. It can use the blue cloth attached to its hilt as nimbly as an arm. Pokémon Trainers who carelessly take this blade in hand may find the blue cloth wrapping itself around them and draining their energy!
Honedge can learn the attack Swords Dance, a Normal-type move. Swords Dance is a frenetic dance that uplifts the fighting spirit and sharply raises the user’s Attack stat. The effect can be increased by using this move multiple times in succession, helping Trainers who deploy this move at the beginning of a battle to overwhelm one opponent after another!
Paris was chosen as the location for this announcement, as Mr. Masuda’s message also included insights into France serving as his inspiration for the game’s unique setting. He explains how the team at Game Freak visited numerous locations across France during 2011, and the information they gathered there influenced the design of the newly discovered Kalos region. Their visit to Paris provided ideas for Lumiose City, the grand metropolis featured in Pokémon X and Pokémon Y.
Steel-Ghost Type
With Levitate I can only hope? AWWWWWWWWWWWW YISSSSSS
This, this right here. Been wanting to see a Steel/Ghost-Type for a while now, but I was hoping for something a lot tankier-looking, like a possessed suit of armor. This seems like it'll have more offensive-based stats. Still awesome though.
How so? Steel/Ghost would mean:
- No double-weaknesses
- Weak to Fire and Ground (unless it has Levitate, then just Fire)
- Normal damage from Water, Electric, Ghost, and Dark
- 1/2 damage from Flying, Rock, Steel, Grass, Psychic, Ice, and Dragon
- 1/4 damage from Bug
- Immune to Normal, Fighting, and Poison (AND Ground if it has Levitate)
So yeah, zero double-weaknesses, 1 or 2 weaknesses depending on Levitate, 7 resistances, 1 double-resistance, and THREE immunities. Granted, we still have yet to see how the typing matchups will change with the addition of Fairy-Types and other rebalancing (aside from Fairy is super-effective vs. Dragon), but for now, I'd say that's pretty damn good.
With Wonder Guard it'd be hit by Fire and Ground every time and those are two fairly common attacking types.
Flamethrower and Earthquake are high-powered highly accurate moves usually taught by TM to a wide array of pikamons
because bronzong was so overused right
Think thats cause his stats kinda sucked... good DEF but no real attack umph... IDK very many DEF/SPDEF builds but then again I don't much play Pokemon for hardcore onlining lol
Man, I hope this means they're going to do some other cool combinations that they haven't really utilized much in the past.
Bronzong was also Steel/PSYCHIC, not Steel/Ghost.
Edit: That broader set of immunities could be rather nice, especially if it does get Levitate. Basically, Fire is the only thing that's going to torque it off, and that means against a lot of physical matchups, it's got an advantage.
