Posted Sat 17th Aug 2013 09:00 by Andy Green
A new one-off Pokémon anime is on the way to coincide with the release of Pokémon X & Y.
It's called Pokémon: The Origin and is based on the original Japanese games, Pokémon Red & Green, which later became Red & Blue internationally. The show will centre around new Pokémon trainer Red as he sets off on his adventure for the first time, while the storyline will be just as it was in the game, with Red fighting against his main rival, Green, and challenging the first gym leader, Brock, to earn the Boulder Badge.
The programme will air as a special broadcast on 2nd October, while Pokémon X & Y will launch around the world on 12th October. There will also be a soundtrack available to download in November.
Check out the trailer to Pokémon: The Origin below.
Also of interest, but based on wild speculation rather than anything resembling fact, is a very short clip at the end of the video below that shows Mega Lucario and Mega Blaziken facing off in what some are interpreting as visuals from a potential upcoming Wii U game. Is it a cheeky teaser of something to come? Check it out and decide for yourself.

Power ranger pose into Mega OG starter pokemon? Can't contain my excitement!
Mega Venasaur <3.
Also Mega Blast having arm cannons is pretty funny but also awesome.
I want the anime to have a mega blastoise just so we can see him going OP on some bitches with shoulder cannons to the front and arm cannons to the side.
Mega Venusaur looks so.... plain. So do the other 2 compared to the other Megas they've shown off so far. And holy crap they're getting to be even more like Digimon. You need a little device to make them evolve? A......Digivice? Also.. this is probably the first time where I don't know which of the 3 starters to pick. And I don't mean the new 3.... I mean when the game gets to the point where you pick one of the original RB starters, I seriously have no clue which to get.
The answer is Charmander. The answer is always Charmander..
Well, I guess almost always..
Spoiler: show
Also, no discussion of the other news?

How much are XLs normally, less than $200, no? Surprised they're not coming with the game. Seems odd, but I guess it allows them to get the units out earlier.. Might have to get the blue one, unless there's a Zelda themed 3DS planned for the new game.Nintendo announced a number of new details for Pokemon X and Y in this morning's Direct broadcast, including two 3DS XL units for North America and Europe. Unlike the red and gold units coming to Japan, the red and blue 3DS XLs will launch on September 27, two weeks prior to the game's arrival on October 12. They'll be available for $200 and won't come with the game included. No word if bundles with the game bundled will launch later.
More curious is the announcement of Pokemon Bank, a 3DS cloud-based app that lets players store their pocket monsters online. The service, which players will have to stump an annual fee for, allows trainers to store 3,000 Pokemon, including those from future Pokemon games and from multiple copies of Pokemon games. It's tied to a linked app, Poke Transporter, that can transfer Pokemon into the Bank from certain previous games, such as Black, White, Black 2, and White 2. Pokemon Bank is confirmed to arrive in North America and Europe later this year, and will come with a free trial period.
XLs are normally 200ish. I'd consider them if they came with the game...
And damnit, I still really want the Charizard one that never came stateside.
It's been awhile since I played any new pokemon game that is not a remake. It might be time for me to do so again.
So this image was created a while ago by people complaining that the pokes were getting too detailed compared to their Gen 1 counterparts, which is a stupid argument anyway, but now it seems extra relevant/ironic.
Spoilered for table breaking.
Spoiler: show
preordered my red pokemon 3ds so i now have a zelda pikachu and red 3ds >_>; also jp can only buy it on the 12th of October due to there's having the game details already on the console so we get ours 2 weeks earlier :D
Mega Garchomp looks like a fuckin beasst. Also, not liking where they're going with the starter evos.
When they first announced this game, I was set on buying it since I hadn't played a pokemon game since after 3rd gen.
Now that they've announced all this other bullshit and shown off more and more of these pokemon, I am no longer sure.
Maybe I'll just buy heart gold or soul silver instead.
So I wonder what the difference is between Mega Mewtwo and Mega Mewtwo-X.
Yeah, I was surprised to see that it looks different.. As far as the evolutions go, Chespin looks awful. Fennekin and Froakie's 2nd stages look ok though. Fennekin's looks way too tiny to be fighting 2nd type, so I'm pretty happy with that.
