Ok, so I'm doing a challenge run where if a pokemon faints, it's dead and I can't use it anymore. And I can only catch the first pokemon I see on a new route, no trading, no IV/EV training, or breeding and I can't have a pokemon hold items.
    I just reached Anistar city (home of the 7th badge) and my team atm is;

Magneton43 / Venusaur47 / Azumarril51 / Lucario47 / Tyrantrum48 / Piloswine40 - Piloswine was just something I threw in because my Greninja recently died. And I'm not a fan of Magneton either. 4 of mine have died so far and 3 of those 4 have been from god damn fighting types. (pidgeotto, chatot, klefki, greninja)

I need to start thinking about what coverage would give me the best odds of beating the elite 4.

    Pokemon I currently have;
Pansage / Oddish / Bidoof / (pure power) Meditite / Flabebe / Hippopotas / (rock head) Rhyhorn / (rock head) Bagon / (iron fist) Golett / (anticipation) Croagunk / (clear body) Carbuncle / (hyper cutter) Trapinch / (thick fat) Hariyama / Pumpkaboo / (inner focus) Sneasel

I really should have picked charmander instead of Venusaur lol not sure why I didn't.
More indepth on my current team
    Spoiler: show

    ThunderBalls
    lv43 Magneton Modest Magnet Pull
Spark / Flash Cannon / Metal Sound / Electro Ball

    Swaggasaur
    lv47 Venusaur Gentle Overgrow
    Grass Pledge / Double-Edge / Leech Seed / Venoshock

    Baby Blue
    lv47 Lucario Hasty Steadfast
Power-Up Punch / Sword Dance / Me First / Aura Sphere

    Face Puncher
    lv51 Azumarill Bashful Huge Power
Superpower / Play Rough / Aqua Tail / Strength

    Twerkasaurus
    lv48 Tyrantrum Gentle Strong Jaw
Rock Tomb / Crunch / Earthquake / Dragon Claw

    Your Mom
    lv40 Piloswine Modest Snow Cloak
Ice Fang / Take Down / Fury Attack / Mist

Who's got some ideas? For the moment anyway. I'll be acquiring a few more pokemon on my way through the game, assuming I don't accidentally kill them or they do something like kill themselves, as two others in the past have done.

I should probably do Salamance instead of Tyrantrum, but at the time (and even still) his rock coverage helps.

Fancy Pattern Vivillon is now available for Pokemon X and Y players to obtain for free, The Pokemon Company announced. The pretty bug can be downloaded through the Mystery Gift option in the game by connecting a 3DS to the Nintendo NT, then choosing to receive a gift via the Internet.

Have they said anything about these new megas and X and Y -- namely, can we get them?

Bet they'll make a required for online play X/Y patch with the new stuff in it.

Also, even Mega Metagross can't fix the mini-Steel nerf. The fact it gained weaknesses hurt it badly.

Agreed 100%. Metagross isn't as good as it was past gens, especially as the Mega user. Maybe if it had Levitate or something else pretty good.

Was talking with a friend earlier today thinking about using Mega-Meta as a simple Mega-Gengar counter and nothing more. Thoughts?

OHKO for Mega Gengar. Steel doesn't resist Ghost anymore.

Which is why we said what we said above. Steel lost both Ghost and Dark resistances. And Metagross now eats 2x on both and they're not exactly uncommon attacking types.

Thinking about it, I don't think Levitate would even make it worthwhile. Best choice is probably going to be to give it a little all-around stat buff, and give it Filter.

Wait when did this happen? Between Black/White and X/Y?

Were there other weakness changes other than Fairy type addition?

Seems like Steel was the only one in Gen 6 to change besides the addition of Fairy type. Bulbapedia has all the type charts lined up nicely for the different gens. http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Type_chart
