Pokemon X & Y (3DS)

Are there any reviews that go into details about online features? The IGN review mentions them briefly and says their good but that's it.

My former roommate lives a few hours away and I still wanna do Pokemon stuffs with him.

In terms of battling and trading, shouldn't have a problem with that. Most I imagine you'd have to do is exchange friend codes and then it shouldn't be a problem to meet up and do stuff in game.

Assuming they've kept the online similar to Black and White (and I'm assuming Black 2 and White 2), I'm expecting the trade and battle system to be fairly simple to use and well done. I'm hoping they've improved the trade options though. It was always a pain to try to get pokemon you wanted when the only forms of communication were a happy face, sad face, exclamation mark, and a fourth that I can't remember (a heart maybe). Also hope they've done away with the limit for searches. I hated searching for something like a Reisheram and the 9 people displayed were all asking for things like a level 9 Zekrom.. And only being able to search for pokemon you've seen. How am I supposed to ask for a Tornadus when it doesn't show up ever in my game. Man, I take back my praise.. really hope they've improved the trade system >.>;

Would be nice if I could just preorder online and pick up from the store Saturday or Sunday but it makes it sound like the item is shipped to the store, in which case I might as well just have it shipped to my house.

Though it depends on what you mean. If you mean "Can you catch all 800 pokemon with just one game", then no. If you mean "The game has all 800 pokemon in code and you can easily trade them to the game to have them", then yes.

Didn't they mention something about X/Y not being compatible at all with any of the older generations? If thats the case, they're going to have to do a metric asston of wifi giveaways so people can get most of the old-school pokes.

There's 450 Pokemon in the Kalos region between all 3 regional dexs (I don't know if there are duplicates, for now I'm assuming no dupes). That's over half all pokemon. Still a ton but not all of them.

Somewhat related.. They need to do events for mew/celebi/jirachi and the rest of them. Do want some legit legendaries.

They've resolved it with the Pokemon Bank. You can just deposit your pokemon from B/W and B2/W2.

fairly certain there are no duplicates in the Kalos dexes, coastal won't overlap with mountain or central etc.

They aren't compatible but it's similar to the way Gen5 wasn't compatible. You can port pokemon into it, but never back. This is done through their Pokemon cloud storage app thing which doesn't launch until like December though.

Will you be able to get all non-legendary pokemon in X/Y? Yes. Will you be able to get all legendary pokemon in X/Y? Not unless they do a fuckton of giveaways.

Black 2 was great. Some songs sucked (like the one above) and the Champion theme was fucking awful.

I'm not sure if theres a friend limit. I've just been using my 3DS for Animal Crossing since I got it recently, myself. I'm holding out until the game is released and we'll probably get a massive FC dump.

I preordered at a Gamestop, and just drop by and pick up my copy when it comes out. Might even be able to call the shop direct and they'll take it over the phone.
