I've evolved 5 of these now and all came out the same pattern, Continental. I evolved all of them near the first few towns, but not in the exact same place, so I cant say for certain that it's not based solely on where IRL and not also where in the game you evolve it. I'm going to be resetting my game here soon so that I can get all of the starters (trading over stuff to my daughter's game, then resetting until I have all 3, and then we're going to do the same for her game), so it'll be a little while before I'm much beyond the first big town to test more. There are now 12 patterns found, though this image doesn't show where they were found like some of the other ones did:

I got out of a movie about an hour ago (Gravity, it was fucking awesome), and there was a giant line outside for the game. Serious dedication, it was chilly outside.

Got myself an Elegant pattern Vivillon from a Japanese Scatterbug I got in a Wonder Trade. It seems it really is the origin of your bug, not where it is evolved, that determines its pattern.

Sorry for asking what may seem like a very stupid question here: does the physical copy of X&Y require any SD card memory space to save and play the game normally, or could one play it with say, a full memory card? I haven't used my 3DS an extensive amount, but between Animal Crossing and FE on my SD card, I have something like 88 blocks left atm. I just wanted to ask about that before heading the the store later to pick up a copy, as I will have to pick up another SD card while out if any saving on the SD is required for a physical copy.

From Michigan here, i got a "Polar" Vivllion. I mean we do get buttloads of "Lake Effect" Snow and it feels Polar here in winter ;;

Either way, I'm happy, Polar is badass.

Guy above me: Not sure, Sorry, Didnt mention SD Space when i saved.

I don't think it'll use any. Maybe a little bit of random data, or pictures or something. But you can play the game as normal without using the SD card.

Wow, got my ass handed to me when I reached the first gym. First time I think that's ever happened to me. Though I didn't come very prepared.
Had a lv11 froakie, lv6 Pikachu, lv4Pansear, lv6pansage, lv9 Spewpa, and a lv4 pidgey
Suppose its time for some grinding.
