I say beat the game then come back to it.
You can get a Reset Bag which will reset your EV values on that pokemon and then you can work them all for perfection.
Unless you want to work on it right now. I was more concerned about just clearing the game then coming back afterwards for it.

Now if you wanna ask do I recommend you Pokemon Amie? Hell yeah I do.

Water type will be handy later. I love Tyrunt but I agree with you that you have too many of the same. Do you have X or Y?

So far my lineup is (22-27): Ivysaur, Frogadier, Combusken, Pikachu, Fletchinder, Vivillion (Polar). I can also confirm any Vivillion I get in NYC is Polar. If anyone wants a Polar let me know and I'll trade you a Scatterbug.

Frogadier is fucking sweet. Mad jealous.
Combusken will steamroll lots of gyms. They will cower.
Pikachu is okay. If you raise him right, he'll be formidable.
Fletchinder I feel mixed about. He's a good revenge killer. His speed stat is cray, but my experience has been bad with his damage. There was one gym he did OHKO everything, you'll know it when you see it.
Vivillion I have no idea. I've heard people squacking about how it's amazing but I never used mine.

Solid choices. I thumbs up it. You could stick with this team all the way. If I were to swap something out, I'd probably pick either Fletchinder or Vivillion. With what? Honedge/Evos are safe. If you have X, the Fairy type will round you out. Otherwise keep what you got. I haven't yet explored too many of the new pokemon so that's the best I can advise.

I'll give you a quick way to level it.

1) Do mini games. Whichever one you're good at, get that one to "Unlimited" mode. For me, that's the berries.

2) Do the "unlimited" and get a score of 100. Lose after that. You get 5 stars and thusly get 2 of the super food and 3 of the next best food. These raise happiness a lot.

3) Feed your pokemon (hold the berry, don't throw it on the ground) until it turns away from the food.

4) Do mini game and intentionally fail.

5) Repeat steps 3-4 unless you run out of food, then do step 2-4.

6) Profit on capped Amie.

I keep hearing how Honedge (and evos) steamrolls shit, so gonna give it a whirl. Is there any reason I should hold out on evolving it to its final form? Can't find a movelist for him anywhere, so not sure if it learns some earth-shattering move while in its 2nd form. Also, been planning out which team I'm going to use and want to try to get the best natures for them. Correct me if I'm wrong, but so far the plan is:
Greninja - Modest
Venusaur - Timid
Tyrantrum - Adamant
Aegislash - (Adamant? No clue)
Dunno
Dunno

Soon as Amazon decides to deliver my shit I'll get cracking, but no clue on who to place in 5th and 6th slot.

I've been using Fletchinder mostly because he is better than anything else I can find at the moment. He has good Speed, yeah, but I also EV trained my Froakie as soon as I started to max Speed and halfway through Attack just to have a powerhouse at the beginning to fall back on.

Vivillion is functioning the same as your Butterfree at the moment. Something to help capture and to fill a slot. Thinking of throwing Abra in there instead. I've never been one to keep the bug-types around too long and the only type advantage they have I can't cover is Psychic. Plus, I used Abra/Ala through Blue as well. He was a powerhouse and from what I read online, he still is.

Based on some threads I read on Smogon, I'd like to put together a team (for end of story/first post-game) something like this:
Greninja, Alakazam, Aegislash, Sylveon, Tyrantrum, Blaziken.

I like a lot of the pokemon in this game. Makes it hard to choose a team, but for post/meta I'm thinking:
Alakazam, Aegislash, Sylveon?, Lucario, Tyrantitar... feel like I'd want a SpAtk Sweeper. Think I have everything else covered, but it's a matter of trying some other mon as well. Want to take a look at Gengar, Blaziken, Protean Greninja, Gourgeist and Scizor as well.

This is all assuming I can keep up with play time and don't get too distracted by XIV. Haven't had any time recently to play anything more than an hour at a time.

You can get a Riolu on route....22? It's the one that heads towards Victory road next to one of those early towns. Check the map and you should see it. I don't know if you already knew that. Also the game...

Let me pop out my copy at work and compare. I know I have 2 people with Delibird and Sneasels. I thought they were from here but maybe from somewhere else. List looks right from memory though.

I ran into a Riolu and accidentally killed it and haven't seen another. Are you suggesting Riolu in a SpAtk Sweeper role? I haven't been able to find someone I like yet based on the discussions I've read for that position. Seems Gardevoir would be better in the defensive side, where I placed Sylveon. Might be worth swapping Gardevoir for Sylveon because of resistances.

Oh no, I was mentioning it because you said Lucario for your endgame but didn't see that you had it listed in your party so I wasn't sure if you knew it was there. Some people didn't see Riolu out there and moved on.

Fairy type is seriously awesome.
