Everstones with Masuda Method would cancel out the NATURE transfer in Gen IV, it did not affect shiny rates.

I was using an Everstone when my Eevee came out as a Shiny with the correct Nature. Since I only filled half a PC box... either I got REALLY lucky, or it doesn't do it this Gen. I can say though that my Eevees are not always the correct Nature/Ability as the parent though. We're talking about probably a 9/10 accuracy on nature/ability here though. That's with me throwing a random number out there--I could do way better extensive testing to nail this down...if I desired to.

Edit: I don't know why but there has been a slow spread of misinformation on this. I'm guessing someone found an old thread from gen IV and started spreading the rumor around.

Mina, any chance on trading high IV NA ditto for a high IV JP ditto, doesn't have to be right away, but maybe down the line sometime? (nature doesn't matter)

I got a ditto with IVs: 31 / 31 / 1, 2, 3 / 18, 19, 20 / 31 / 31

On another note, I don't even know what I want to make for a team. So far, my best torchic has capped HP/ATK/SDEF/SPD IV's, but I think I can get a HP/ATK/DEF/SDEF/SPD one in a few more hatches.

Although, I'm probably more likely to use a 5 IV 2nd parent over a ditto, unless it's a new egg group. Meh.

If you're aiming for a shiny, you use a JP ditto.
If you're aiming for a 5 IV, you use the best parents you have.
If you happen to have two copies of the game, one in JP, one in English... you breed a JP and EN version of the parents and kill two birds with one stone.
Or if you're like that lucky bastard who has a 31, 31, 31, 31, 31, 31 ditto you fuck yourself because I hate you. > seriously.

Unfortunately it appears that Shinies are more likely than female Eevees for me. MEH.

So yesterday was my birthday. I started playing, and as soon as i stepped into a pokemon center, the game stopped me in place and a ton of confetti starting shooting around my character. I get a pop saying something to the effect of "Happy birthday guitarman! May your life be filled with joy!" then a little lit birthday cake popped on the screen above the pokecenter nurse and stays there the entire day. Pretty neat!

Natures seem pretty straightforward. The IV stuff though.....I'm still confused.

Currently I'm using...

Honedge - Gentle Nature
Wartortle - Calm Nature
Combusken - Naughty Nature
Braixen - Bold Nature
Fletchinder - Hardy Nature
Linoone - Brave Nature

Any of those decent? I'm guessing the Gentle Honedge might be decent due to the fact it already has naturally high DEF stat despite the fact that's the stat that got the - in. And it's +1 in Sp. Def. I can probably EV train the hell out of it's DEF and Sp. DEF stats and make it my tank.

I read on the wiki that they have some kind of rivalry so they'll usually go after each other. It's a pain in the butt killing all the zangoose before they kill off the viper though.

Okay, let me dumb down IVs. I'll make it super simple.
Every pokemon has a random set of IVs given to them upon encounter/their birth.

1. HP
2. Attack
3. Defense
4. Sp. Attack
5. Sp. Defense
6. Speed

The highest an IV can be is 31. The lowest, 0. A 31 is considered "Perfect".

So now you're like 'Mina, that's nice. But I have no idea what an IV is still. What does it do? Why should I care if it is perfect or not?'
For normal game play, it is unnecessary to worry about this. However, for competitive players (your min-maxers can report in here) it means an awful lot!
A lot of math goes in and basically to make it simple, higher IV means better stats.

'So is a 0 in a stat a bad thing?'
Well, it depends. If you want your speed to be slow so you always act 2nd, then a 0 in speed is optimal.

'How do I know what sort of IVs do I want?'
The simplest answer is to look at your pokemon's base stats. Take a look at several pokemon websites and check its balance. Does it look like it is a physical attacker? Or a special(magic) one? Is it supposed to be a tanky pokemon? Is the speed on it so awful you don't need to try to surpass other pokemon? This is also important for EVs.
