I guess the screen is just confusing to me. Thanks for the answers. I wish I could just have the option to have no bag up just to be sure but apparently you can't take it down completely... or at least I don't see an option for that. D:

So, out of curiosity.....how rare are random encounters in the wild where Shiny pokemon attack?
I ask because I just was attacked by a horde of 5 Roselia, and one of them was Shiny. Of course, I caught the Shiny! Sadly I have no idea how to take a pic of it.
In my experience, the pokemon will level itself up and it'll just increase it's stats to match it's naturally acquired one. I never super trained my game given bulbasaur but by the end of the game it had maxed itself out (with no punching bag) the vertical bar on the right will tell you it's progress. Grab a level 1 Pokemon and the bar will be completely empty. Fight a battle or two and by lv7 or So you'll notice the bar has begun to grow and you're poke will have some increased stats.
So if you have a pokemon you don't want growing EVs on it's own, you either need to immediately Max it's evs out or take it out of party.
At least that's what I've noticed
or your bulby got EVs from exp share
Pokemon get EVs from battles where they gain experience -- and so any pokemon that gets exp from exp share is also getting EVs from it. Each pokemon gives a certain number of EVs when it is defeated. It used to be this was how you had to EV train, but with super training, it's not an issue anymore. So it's not so much that it is increasing its stats to match its level, but that as you progress through the game and level it, it naturally acquires EVs.
That's where this image comes in. The second column would be for a Weaville who you caught during the game and kept in your party, fighting random opponents and gaining EVs without focusing on a specific type.
Yeah, I always have exp share on. So if you have exp share on, all pokemon gain ev on their own. Still basically the same thing.
I was aware that it happened, just wasn't sure on the why, and was letting him know stats could level up on him without him doing anything
I know the stats will go up with exp share on, I was just asking for future reference when I finally start breeding and doing proper EV training on the bred pokemon. I really don't want to screw it up accidentally by letting it sit there punching shit all by its lonesome lol.
Thanks again for the answers. I still don't feel like I understand how to keep a pokemon from punching the bag by itself if it is indeed doing so while not on the supertraining screen, but I suppose I still have a long way to go before I have to really worry about it since I'm sort of taking the scenic route through the game anyway >_> Dunno how all you guys manage to finish it so fast.
So, was all excited when I got a Pokemon through wonder trade yesterday with Pokerus, and I went to see if it doubled stat gain in super training....it does not. So dumb. D:
So I haven't played Pokemon competitively in years but every time I see legendaries in a players potential 6 'mons my noob alert goes off.
If it's Mewtwo you know that shit is coming out first. MEGA MEWTWO GO.
Anyone else find themselves going back to older pokemon instinctively? Like there's all these new pokemon in the game, yet I still have Charizard and Lucario leading the charge lol. I know Aegislash is super popular but still, overall.
I saw there was a list before for BG friend codes but I can't find itanyone like to share?

Thought I'd lay down some fun facts.
Friend Codes + Friend Codes Safaris
1. In order to unlock Hidden Abilities the user must have logged on at least 1x online the same as you in game. You are not required to have them online to get hidden effect pokemon.
Tested: I shut off my 3DS. Turned it on. Checked my friend's list. The person with the Ditto farm I wanted to go to was offline. Good. I shut off my Wifi anyways just in case. Went into the Ditto farm. Ran around. Encountered 2 Dittos. The second one had Imposter. Hence, people on the internet need to stop telling people that they have to be online in order to encounter Hidden Ability pokemon. You only need to do this interaction once.
2. Friend Codes are reset when you reformat your 3DS. So. If you have a spare 3DS you don't mind losing all your precious data on, you can reset it over and over until you get the type of safari that you want.
Tested: I have a friend who reformated his 3DS, he got a different friend code and his safari changed.
"But Mina? How do I know what safari has those delicious Dittos?"
3. It appears that Pokemon come in sets. Basically let's call my set, Electric Set #1. Anyone who has the same first two pokemon are given (in the same order) are given the same third pokemon. (Unless there's a set out there that has a 3rd one being different, I highly doubt this though, based on the multiple friend codes)
Tested: Not only do I have multiple ones to prove this, but after we curiously discovered his friendcode/safari changed we noticed that as we repeated it over and over, the same 2 pokemon would pop up together.
4. This is the most interesting one. Friends who delete you, that you don't delete, will just show up in your offline forever. HOWEVER, their pokemon are still accessible (including the 3rd one!) (and including the hidden ability!!!)
Tested: I had a multiple set of his FC that he deleted and I could still see his safaris.
5. Even if they wipe their data, their FC safari will continue to exist so long as their FC in your 3DS is still there.
Tested: I could still go into 3 of his dead safaris!
I know most of this is pointless to people but I thought I'd share.
Last thing: It seems that either there is a queue of friend codes and those friend codes are producing the same pokemon OR that something with the time you connect to the Nintendo servers that changes your safari. Because even with different friend codes, in the span of 10-20 minutes we noticed we got repeating sets and then it would roll over to a new set... and then it would roll over to a new set...
