I foresee Les Mis winning everything in their categories maybe except for costumes? I have yet to see the Master but this Silver Linings Playbook film seems to be quite popular. Hope Quentin wins for screenplay. Wonder if Spielberg will win director.

Saw Beasts of Southern Wild recently. Good old fashion story telling. Reminds me of simple stories I would read in Elementary.

Argo was my favorite film of the year. I don't see it winning, but I feel it should.
Lincoln, while decent, is way overhyped.

If Anne Hathaway doesn't win for her performance in Les Mis, there is something seriously wrong. I think the other categories for Les Mis could go either way (I'd love to see Jackman take the Oscar home, too) but Anne should have it. "I Dreamed a Dream" never brought me to tears before she sang it.

    Avengers, Batman, Skyfall, where?
Or do you have to gross less then what you put in to the film to have a chance in best film/leading/supporting roles?

Large budget action flicks seldom get more than sound/sfx/makeup nods.

Honestly the only super hero movie I though should have be nominated but wasn't was The Dark Knight. Other then that the acting is always sort of hokie and isn't serious enough/dramatic enough for serious consideration. Its the same reason the Ted or any other comedy could never be nominated for anything other then original song.

Both Wes Anderson and PT Anderson got the shaft. Both Moonrise Kingdom and The Master deserved more nods, particularly for cinematography. I really thought The Master would have been a strong candidate for best film.

They could have kicked Spielberg off that list but then I think Hollywood would have been immediately set ablaze.

And its pretty much why the Oscars are stupid. You don't have to make a serious movie for it to be a good movie. Only thing that surprises me is that between Avengers and TDKR they got a total of 1 nomination even in technical categories. I guess fuck anything that makes money.

Avengers got nominated for some visual thing.
TDKR should not have been nominated for anything at all.

    Skyfall's in for cinematography.

Come on. This is the Oscar's. You should know better than that.

I predict Jackman and Hathaway will win for their roles in Les Mis.

Especially for what he's up against in that category, he should definitely win that.
