Question of my own: If you buy one o those respecs, does it allow you to reallocate your starting stats? Or would that require rerolling from scratch on a new char. Maxed int on my CW cause well, seemed like a no brainer, but now I'm not so sure.

Cant re-roll starting stats.
Makes sense. Still unfortunate. Also I hate that you gotta buy respecs with zen. Really discourages experimentation.
Can't say I see how LFG tools kill socialization, either. The bigger problem is people just wanting to speed through things under the assumption everyone else knows the area. This gets exacerbated in games like Rift where they tie a (stackable) daily reward to queuing. While the argument may be that it results in more LFG PUGs being run, that sense of obligation to not "waste" the daily is there. In turn, getting in and getting out ASAP to do the thing you want to do becomes the MO of MMOs.
As for the trinity, I don't think it's a bad thing, but I do find it problematic when hybrid options are frowned upon, which is basically what no-trinity demands. Maybe I'll pick this up to kill some time since I'm burnout mode with other things, but I still felt like the game lacked some polish when I'd tried beta a bit back.
LFG tool kills socialization in dungeons where there is built in voice chat to accommodate communication..
Launcher finally working for us.
Honestly I've noticed similar trends to Shiyo, though nowhere near as extreme as she's making out. I've never had a group put together via chat outright completely ignore communication, sure you'll get the occasional quiet person but they'll talk if necessary or if you speak to them. With DF I've had plenty of runs where everyone would be dead silent and even occasionally ignore chat entirely when you directly talk to someone. There's also the very large possibility you get matched with foreigners, often making communication impossible. Literally every fucking dungeon I did in TERA matched me with garbage BR players who didn't speak English. Neverwinter is international and has a lot of French and German players, so it's quite likely you'll stumble across that happening here too, depending on your play hours. I think DF's are a good thing overall but there's definitely some truth to what she's saying. The only real issue I have (and she mentioned) is cross-server DF turning people in to greedy shitheads. So far I haven't seen anyone acting like that here but it's early days! The community overall here actually feels a lot better than most MMOs I've touched recently.
Any guild made on mindflayer yet?
Might have to try this out.
This game has literally the worst PVP of any video game I've played. I will say that rift and FFXI had better PVP. Healers that are literally invincible while rolling their face across the keyboard? Check. They don't even need to know wtf they're doing, they just press every spell everytime it's up and piano their keyboard I'm guessing? Stealth class(rogue) that does infinite damage, takes 0 damage, and has infinite mobility/ranged damage/stuns? Check.
I honestly don't understand this games PVP at all, people LITERALLY DO NOT TAKE DAMAGE..I tried pvping at level 17 with Kiarax and both of us wailing on someone(not someone being healed) would result him the guy tanking both of us, and killing him(if a rogue..everyone is a rogue though, pretty much 95% rogues in PVP). I don't understand why people take 0 damage, and do infinite damage to me. I also don't understand how you're supposed to kill a SINGLE healer, let alone, more than 1, without somehow having 40 people attacking them at once? If a healer exists, no ones health pool moves at all..and damage is so low and fucked unless you're a rogue at low level that you aren't killing anyone even if they don't have a healer..
I seriously don't understand why they added PVP to a game where they didn't test it once, they basically just made sure your character didn't get deleted when entering/queueing/exiting PVP then forgot it existed. Why don't people take damage, why are healers invincible, why do rogues do infinite damage and take zero? WTF is even going on in this games PVP? It's incredibly unfun being unable to deal damage or kill anyone, ever.
Unless something changes DRASTICALLY the higher level you get, then good. Sub 20 PVP is the worst thing ever though, it shouldn't even be in this game if it's going to be this badly designed/unfun. It doesn't even feel like I "do" anything in PVP, it's so slow paced that I basically have to spam my DPS rotation and SPAM all my CC with no thought at all behind it, no DR's(I think?) on CC, and they have such short cooldowns, PLUS they deal damage. The entire combat system just doesn't seem to work in PVP because of how spells are designed. I'm mindlessly mashing buttons and I feel like I'm encouraged to do that, I have very few spells and they all have low cooldowns and saving something to "interrupt" or "CC" or "get someone off a healer" or "I'm saving this spell to interrupt them when they cast X spell..oh wait everythings basically instant with low cds so none of them is pointless because of these low cooldowns, the fact my CC spells do more damage than my damage only spell, no resource cost(this is really stupid TBH) and the fact DR's don't exist(I think?). There's no skill play, no countering, it's like playing a FPS where you have infinite ammo in every gun, no reload, and can use every gun at the same time with no weapon swapping. Horrible.
It is definitely shit pre 20 though.
PVP is great fun. If you're trying to dps on a non-dps class than of course you're gonna have a bad time. If you're playing like rogue and claiming that nobody is taking damage then well, you're doing it wrong. Rogues are not invincible because a single Control Wizard can shut me down if they're doing their job correctly.
Rogues could stand to be nerfed a bit but not nearly as severe as you're making them out to need it. Also the counter to stealth is to keep hitting the Rogue, his stealth meter can be kept from recharging if you're constantly landing hits on him. This can be traited eventually to not be so severe (can reduce the amount of stealth lost by up to 90%) but at level 20 pvp that's how you do it.
If PVP is 95% Rogues and nobody is dying? Then I'm gonna have to say you've been playing with shittastic players. A balanced party will wreck anything (1-2 Rogues or GWF, Guardian, Cleric and Control Wizard, can substitute the Guardian for Control Wizard, which is actually better than a tank imo). It's all about working together. A GWF and a Control Wizard can wreck the shit out of me, Wizard uses Black Hole thing and the GWF comes up and uses his knock back shit into it? I immediately take over 50% of my health in damage.
I don't know what you're complaining about though, Rogues are supposed to be the best DPS class. GWF looks to have a little bit more CC abilities and may need some adjusting to at least be on par with Rogue but other than that, in a game with the holy trinity (which really I have yet to see any content that requires it yet) that's how shit works.
And you know what? After having Thief be completely subpar in FFXI and then GW2 after some major nerfing, fuck you I'm happy I get to play a Rogue class that absolutely fucks everything up.
THF has been the best PVP class in GW2 since release, and still is. I play a control wizard, I play with a GWF, and both of us spamming dps(there is literally on skill involved in dpsing someone in pvp in this game) would not kill a rogue before he could kill Kiarax. They didn't take damage, no one took damage, everyone was invincible. If a cleric existed, they gained health as we hit them.
Yeah sure. I was including PVE in my statements, in which Thief was terrible, but yeah Thief may have been awesome before people learned what Elementalist, Mesmer and Guardian could do in PvP (remember when people complained about Ele and Guardian being useless in pvp? LOL) but now Thief is pretty terrible in comparison to what those 3 classes can do in PVP.
As to the rest, like others and myself has said, GWF is not very good pre-30. I don't know much about Control Wizard but if you were straight DPSing him instead of trying to, you know, control him then you're gonna have a bad time. The Force Choke move and Black Hole move specifically are what shuts me down, combined with a GWF to knock me into your Black Hole and beat on me whilst being controlled and I'm dead.
I don't know what you're going on about with the "everybody is invincible" horseshit because that's certainly not the case.
I have 1 DPS spell that doesn't CC someone. I literally can't DPS someone without CCing them, this is another problem in itself though.but if you were straight DPSing him instead of trying to, you know, control him then you're gonna have a bad time
Mmkay, like I said haven't looked at the class. And no it's not a problem because your primary function is CC and secondary is DPS. This isn't GW2 where every class has to be balanced so that they can be on equal footing with every other class as far as damage goes.
But like I said, Rogue could stand to be nerfed and I would be ok with it. Or they could buff GWF a bit and that would also be acceptable. My argument is that this game has very clearly defined roles and Rogue's role is DPS, so it /should/ be the best at it or on par with GWF (again haven't looked at the class so I don't really know what direction it goes in, it seems to be the opposite of Control Wizard, Primary DPS and Secondary CC), and if that's the case it doesn't need to be nerfed as much as you seem to think it does.
