Looking around 2400 so far, and still waiting on another W2 for my main job.

Wife's former employer fucked her. Partially my fault though for not checking. After owing 450 to california last year, I had her redo her tax form to withhold at the single rate. They claimed they did it all online, I never followed up on her statements due to her getting direct deposit and therefore all her statements online, got her W2 in the mail friday, out of 18k she made at the Marriott, they withheld about 210 dollars for state. Owe 768 to cali, waiting on a stupid 70 dollar W2 for a deferred comp check I get from frys from my 5 years there, blech. Pissed me off, but not as annoying as losing my $120 renters credit due to making about 1k over the limit in california for it.
There is a heavy presence of '1st world problems' memes in this thread.

Haven't done mine yet, but still start very soon.
Question: How does TaxACT compare to TurboTax? I've done TurboTax for the last few years, but never tried TaxACT so wanted to get some feedback on the two.
My parents use TaxAct and they said it's okay...have no complaints about it, but no applauding for it either. They are gonna be trying TurboTax this year to see if anything is different.
My school sends me a w2 for my financial aid, but I don't work. Any point in filing? Have never filed before (even when I was working my uncle would just claim me under his taxes while I was living with him, so I've never filed before)
I figured if they were going to tax govt money, they'd make it easier and just give me less govt. money
I run mine through both. Usually process through taxact though. On another note, my federal was accepted yesterday, 2 days early. It won't process earlier, but it was accepted early.
Still waiting for a W2 GRRRRRRRRRRRRRR >B(
Thanks for the replies, I guess I can just try both and see which gives me the most refund with the least amount of headache.
Is there anyway to claim the EITC if the only thing you had coming in was Unemployment Checks?
Snagged a $1650.00 return (Turbo Tax).
How bout the Child tax credit?
Damn son how much UC did you bring in last year?
EITC must be nice.
Getting back 5500 from Federal and 880 from state(no fucking clue when state comes through <_>).
Why is this in poopdeck, by the way? Hardly political, certainly not religious.
