“Fallout,” the post-apocalyptic series debuting this week on Amazon Prime, is expected to relocate to California for its second season, thanks to $25 million in California tax credits.
The California Film Commission announced Monday that it has awarded $152 million in tax incentives to a dozen TV shows.
The list also includes two shows from Ryan Murphy, “Dr. Odyssey” on ABC and “Grotesquerie” on FX, as well as “NCIS: Origins,” a prequel show due out next season on CBS.
“Fallout” has the largest budget of any of the shows, at $153 million in qualified expenditures for the season. The first season was produced mostly in New York, with some filming in Utah.
Amazon was also awarded another $14.6 million for an untitled “Task Force” show, while Warner Bros. Discovery was awarded $20.2 million for a show called “Latitude” and $12.2 million for “The Pitt,” a hospital show starring Noah Wyle and set in Pittsburgh.

Let's go! Episodes are up.
Hit the halfway point and enjoying it. Some of the combat scenes seemed a bit janky, but wondering if they were trying to emulate some of the combat perks from game or it just didn't translate to real life well. Didn't like a few things about the power armor, felt like they were trying to make it too much like Iron Man and not Fallout. The soundtrack is peak Fallout though.
Five episodes in and I like it. There is a huge amount of cheese and a lot of the jokes fall flat, but the action and aesthetic is on point. Read that this takes place 9 years after Fallout 4 (this series is video game canon) which explains a few things in the world. The story is, from what I've gathered so far, Fallout 3 set in the greater Los Angeles area with throwbacks to Fallout 1 & 2.
That said..
Spoiler: show
I'm sold on a season 2. It's going to shut up the internets for thinking a certain game isn't canon.
2 episodes in and they definitely nailed the vibe and quirkiness of the franchise
Holy lore dump Batman. I'm ready for season 2.
only first ep in but agree with Kran, good channeling of the Fallout vibe + solid set-up for the 3 arcs with each lead seeming an adept actor. we'll see if the writing holds up.
I'm watching episode 5 right now, it's pretty well holding up.
It definitely wasn't my plan to binge this all day but here we are
We’ve only watched 2 episodes. I tried to prepare my wife and told her the video games are intentionally a bit campy and tried to explain why things both look futuristic and from the 50’s (even before the opening scene bombings), but wife (not a player of video games) loves the cheesiness and seemingly over the top aspects out of no where. Like, up to a point there’s no big guns shown, then a fucking gun half the size of Texas shows up and she’s like “ok, I’m here for this”. I think it has lived up to the gaming atmosphere incredibly well.
