I rarely get sick, but I got the vaccination back in November when I was in the doc's office getting earwax removed.

Never had a flu vaccine and I only get sick once every 2-3 years.
I had the flu shot once, when I was in basic. It put me in the hospital for a couple of days. So, no. I won't be getting that again.
I've been receiving the flu vaccine for many years now without issue. It's a simple run-in-and-get-while-visiting-for-something-else shot at the medical centers so no point in me not getting it.
The last serious illness I had was my second bout of scarlet fever which was 12-15 years ago ish. Nothing but allergies and colds since, so either I'm lucky or the vaccines have helped or both.
If you get offered the meningococcal meningitis vaccine and you turn it down, you're at least 1000x more idiotic than people that don't get the flu vaccine because they're afraid of mercury.
If you get meningitis because you didn't take precautions, be prepared to be royally fucked.
Yea that's nice that you had that all handy and ready to go, but I'm talking about simple colds/the flu itself.
didnt that turn out to be a hoax? either way i hope it happens to mazmaz
It's uncommon, and ordinarily complete bullshit. There are a handful of variables people fail to account for when throwing around their vaccine experiences.
You can absolutely die from a vaccine, just as you can absolutely die from aspirin. What's incontrovertible is that you're absolutely in greater risk of any kind of anything but choosing not to vaccinate yourself.
Amusing flu vaccine clip, in case nobody has seen it before:
I don't get flu shots and luckily I have not gotten the flu since I was 13 or 14.
I used to get sick ALL the time when I was a kid. Like, I lived with nonstop ear infections, colds and strep throat. Every major holiday (especially christmas) I would get gastroenteritis (stomach flu) and puke my guts out for 2 - 3 days. I would get sick during friend's birthday parties and have to be rushed home and would get bronchitis every winter too (to the point where the mucous closed my windpipe on occassion).
I hate vomiting more than almost anything else, always hated it and did it so much when I was a kid that I probably used up my entire life's worth of vomit vouchers. So I made a pact with myself, the last time I got sick around 13 or 14 that I will never, ever puke again (unless medically neccessary). 27 years old now and still haven't gone back on that pact.
I am pretty afraid to poke the bear, as getting flu shots often makes people sick rather than keeps them from getting sick. But I really have no reason to get it atm, either.
Last time I got the flu was in 1988, have never gotten the flu vaccine. I have been lucky thus far.
oh shit, this is now a wobblegirl thread
