Jumping back, the chart noble posted is flawed in the same way QB rating is f-ed in that it's ignoring half the picture when pulling up the stats.

It's giving us results on passing plays, but ignoring how many times they were called or what the resulting yardage/points was. Similar to how QB rating is ignoring results on sacks, fumbles, scrambles, etc.

QBR is ESPN's stat. Passer rating is just a number conglomerating TD%+INT%+Completion%+YPA (each of which are very important QB stats)

    Ooooh.

    QBR looks kind of... dumb.

Including sacks is.pretty ridiculous without a case by case judgment; not.sure how highly run EPA is weighed but given Kaeps scores it seems to bevalued in favor of mobile QB ?

i feel like half the people here (not archi/rhino) are fucking up the difference between QBR and PR. I just assumed Krandor meant PR on his first post

QBR counts sacks, fumbles, scrambles, etc.

Passer rating deals with points via TD% and yards via YPA.

Passer rating is only valid when considering "what happens when a QB throws the ball" - it's not inclusive of rushing, but it's funny that the top two passers all-time in passer rating are among the better rushing QBs in their leagues. (Young and Rodgers)

Was under the impression people considered Passer Rating and Quarterback Rating the same thing.

    Argh tappytalks

QBR is supposef to mean total qb rating right? Always confused me why there's no t in it.

You can't see exactly what goes into QBR, why should it be considered a defining stat?

Change all instances where I said QB Rating to passer rating if that makes more sense to you. I havent had any caffeine today.

yeah....... but you know Rodger be holding onto that ball taking sacks rather than throwing it away to help his compl % and PR. Alex Smith did it too, I mean yes it's smart to take a sack rather than throw a possible INT but fuck it gets frustrating watching your QB get sacked that much. Rodgers is also a great runner but runs way less now than he used to or so it seems haven't checked the #s

Flacco leads the postseason in passer rating with a 114.7

Since firing Cameron, Flacco went with a 76.5 against Denver followed by 114.2 125.6 116.2 and 106.3. This leaves out the game where he played one drive.

I can dig it. Hope this trend continues. Also Tony Romo has an extremely high career passer rating lol

That is the biggest problem with it - we can't see what the biggest problem with it is.

For passer rating, the biggest problem with judging a passer's efficiency is that playcalling (specifically whether you throw in goal line situations or not) can hurt a QB's TD% or boost another's, and including YPA AND completion percentage can be considered kind of a "double-dip" (although I don't find that to be particularly important). Other than that I think it's a great stat for judging seasons and careers (especially compared to others in the era). As a single-game stat it's not as great.

He's had between 54 and 64 rushing attempts each season in his career. This year was a low with only 2 rushing TDs though, but more yards than last year or his rookie year.

I agree wih everything here but am confused why what you say makes it.better for career tthan single game, especially if a QB has stayed with the same.coordinators and supporting staff.

The YPA/comp% discrepancy should even itself out generally. Flacco is one one end of the spectrum there but still pulls strong passer ratings.

TD% is.problematic though. And if all QB went through phases with good goal line run games or different coordination styles tthen I'd agree but that's not exactly the case
