I need to research more on the classes before I settle on mine. How hard are they to level? Like can i make one in Striker and then healer tree np throughout the game?

I was thinking of Dueling path and then Galactic Knight. I wanted to do a Commando tree but it seems focused on ranged when I like to get some melee on

The game feels very much built around the concept of capping out classes and switching around. Im only 23 and ive finished Galactic Knight and working on Mastermind. The idea is that once you cap out a class, you can use that classes weapons on another class. So i can use the beam saber on Mastermind instead of the knife and focus on damage instead of healer arts for example.

It takes no time at all to cap a class so don't worry too much about it. You can sort of leave class duties to your AI partners but a lot of them have restrictions on Arts from their own classes. For instance Gwin doesn't learn any of the taunts despite having Assault Rifle so if you wanted him to Tank for you (which Striker is exceptionally good at) you'll be out of luck. This spreadsheet has a run down of every Art/Skill in the game including character specific ones you unlock through Affinity quests among other info.

As far as which classes are good, I mastered Duelist first and haven't switched out of their weapons since. Rising Slash with Taunt and Magnum Edge does ridiculous damage and has one of the lowest cooldowns in the game (9s) so you can practically spam it. Assault Rifle has good utility in Blackout/Topple/Supercharge/Stun/Taunt which let's you keep a target pinned down for a long time. That plus a large number of useful starting skills like HP+50%, Physical Damage +50%, etc. The only real downside is you get less skill slots but all other classes have the usual 4 so just switch to Bastion Warrior with Duelist weapons if you want to remain a Tank/Melee powerhouse.

Full Metal Jaguar is a beast if you like to spam Overdrive as most of their skills are focused around boosting that in one way or another. Backslash + Shadow Strike do really good damage with Shadowrunner and their melee combos hit a lot of times for good damage which knocks the Overdrive counter up significantly. Combine that with the skills that start Overdrive at 12 and extend it's base duration by 10 seconds by default and you can pretty much stay in perpetual Overdrive if you manage your TP well. Later on you can get Ghost Factory for yourself so you can alternate with Elma and pretty much guarantee you never get hit. Lin has Shield Wall and her available Arts are perfect for tanking combined with the damage reduction and debuff resist skills she can learn.

Astral Crusader is really good at appendage breaking and does good damage if you focus on the sniper aspect mostly. Haven't given too much attention to their Javelin moves but the only useful one for a sniper build is Hair Trigger for Supercharge.

I liked that area, but I was 22 or so, when I completed it last night. In full lvl 15 armor, they didn't but tickle me, and that Tyrant mech dropped some red skell weapon; was getting orange ones from the normal robots, so I don't know if skell weapons follow the same color scheme or not.

Can't say enough good things about all of the little places you can explore. During a CS, I panned around and notices that something was extending from it, to areas I hadn't been too. Discovered there's a path you can run that winds up and around the trunk, leading to a companion quest, and the other areas. The view was spectacular, and I'm glad those moments far outweigh the frustrating ones of not knowing how to get to an objective, and Follow Ball derps in a direction I'm not physically able to follow....

This game is gorgeous. I am having a great time, just wandering around. I swam up to the northern continent and holy shit it is so pretty. Spent most of yesterday doing Chapter 6 and then getting my Skel... and then spending the next hour just jumping all over everywhere.

The game is beautiful, yeah. A lot of Noctilum is great looking (Middle/north part). The beginning area of Noctilum can suck a dick though. Overall, I like the general aesthetic of the original Xenoblade better. Nothing can beat Eryth Sea or Satorl Marsh (Night).

Yes, but all I had to do was follow the path, through a ravine, and I was in the lower area. That initial place has some bad, high level monster placement, but you can walk around most of it, or over it, via the tree roots.

I love how exploring is dangerous in this game, Running around enjoying sights, then bang a random lv 50ish kills you !

Was for some affinity quest. Idk the best path I found was over some mountains and just going that way.

When something says "Deals more damage when triggering a ranged combo" does that mean I should use it from ranged style or switch to ranged after.
