bout 3/5ths left on my pass through Sylvalum, then all of Cauldros, for treasure, and then farm up the last parts for my Ares 90. Been able to take out several 60+ tyrants, with my Detonator, so I haven't felt the need to rush it too much.

Do you guys all prefer to play with the massive wii u game pad or do you run a pro classic?
All I've done so far is created a character lol.
Probably one of the few games that makes great use of the gamepad. Definitely use. Battery life becomes an issue with this game if you play like me (5 hrs+ at a time... Lol). Be by an outlet. Also, possible to use a pro controller and use the gamepad propped up in a holder on the coffee table. Done that once or twice.
I use pro classic with the gamepad nearby for doing fast travel and data probe stuff.
Beat the game a second time, only taking 30 hours with watching all the cutscenes. There were a few details I missed out the first time around that made a lot more sense the second time around. The only optional quests I did were those involving Kristy and Tobias to get storage/duplicator/boost probes. This game was worth getting a Wii U for it, and hopefully a sequel of some sorts is in the works for NX.
Also, kicking myself for being so stupid and completely oblivious to how useful some of L's arts are. Maybe it was the sleep deprivation, but the second time around, I realized he had Stoneskinga, Curaga, Slowga, 2 topple arts, and his unique Dual Dynamo stance that makes him go super saiyan. Not sure why I initially thought making him a second tank also using Trash talk with Lin was a good idea.
Yeah don't do that unless the mob is isolated.
Also big fucking controller is big(damn thing is half the size of my keyboard in length), but I don't mind using it for the game.
Ares 90 - get!
Time to blow up some stuff and work on KOS-MOS armor; damn that stuff needs a lot of drops.
Tank build is really fun. I explored the whole entire left side of the map trying to get to every probe site. One was guarded though, and two required flight, while a few require a bit of Solid Snaking.
Ran into a clever ambush, two actually. First an alcove containing a box, and needed lvl2 mech. 6 lvl28 mobs spawned on me. I Usain Bolt'd for the cliff and jumped off, falling some 1000ft. What a rush LOL. The second was some plant mob that blended very well with the other plants. Turns out it's a mob if the leaves are moving, so I have to watch closely for that when coming across a patch of those things.
And then there is Horn Bird mob that went into insta-aggressive status upon morning hitting with my dumbass standing right in front it. Just now continuing with the story with finding the pathfinders. Spent 7 hours before that exploring.
I convinced my friend to buy a WiiU because of this game. I am proud
Either I'm unlucky, or Blade Medals are too rare. I cleaned out three sets of missions, almost single handed, and I think I got two? Sure, I got a lot of tickets, but at 300+ a pop for the mats I'm looking for, Medals are by far much quicker.
Ah, crap, I forgot about that. Thanks for the reminder.
Ok real dumb question time. Only a few hours in, just completed chapter 3. Working on grinding as i'm only level 12. I see some quests available in the barracks, but my affinity is too low. How do you typically get that up as I haven't really seen it explained in game anywhere.
Soul Voices in combat with that character, or just any of the missions from the mission board.
edit: It takes a while to level it though, from what I've seen.
Got this for Christmas, been playing a bit lately, and man.. it's a challenge for someone who has zero idea what they're doing. Am level.. 11? 12ish? To the point where I can add more than just the initial two girls to my party, and doing one of the bounties/missions that has me fighting this big level 13 fucker, and jesus christ does he destroy me ;w;
I think I remember that one, actually; if the monster has a dark purple icon, then it's a Tyrant, and those are a lot tougher then the normal monsters; triple so if it's a giant type. Actually, depending on the monster genus, and if it's giant, you can be 20 levels higher and still get your ass kicked. The deer-like Tyrant, in Noctilis, that's Lv 11, is like that.
If you just stick to the Social missions, as well as affinity missions you qualify for, you can pretty much ignore the Bounty missions, because their difficulty has very little to do with whatever ranking * system they use. You'll also get a lot of your exp just by exploring the world and getting the Nav sights across the continents. Sometimes, you'll get sent half-way across a new continent, for an mission, but it's nothing to worry much about, as all continents have content for most levels and agro is fairly easy to avoid. You will see some big critters, along the way, but the area the mission is in is almost always level appropriate.
