Not sure what you mean; if an NPC has a quest, you can either find it on the mission board, as a bread-crumb (sometimes you need to refresh the board by looking at it again), or they have a red ? on the mini-map. If the quest has a non-drop/collection objective, it can always be found by setting the mission as a way-point, via the missions menu. If you have to get information about your next location, then the map usually has a large yellow area covered, and you have to find an NPC and overhear their conversations, which are usually a yellow bubble. Those do get annoying, trying to find, since the area isn't exactly tiny.
If it's a drop you need, you can buy it with Blade Tickets if you don't know where to get it or it's an annoying drop. If it's a collection, hopefully you've found it in your travels, but those are pretty small in number and the materials are usually common enough that you already have them if you're keeping up on exploring places
If you don't see any Social Quests, or any NPCs that offer quests, you need to advance the story, and then more will open up.
Move that character to the top of the party list, in the party menu. Then you can play as an Elma, or any other party member except maybe someone you've scouted, from the Blade Console; never tried that myself.
Any beginner tips for the Gundams? Just got my license and aside cockpit time being badass, I have no idea how to use them efficiently
Don't drive the pit in Oblivia.
There is a bigass chasm in Oblivia that is bottomless and will kill you. The lowest you could probably descend is the little island there.
You want to get a good look at the area first to determine where your "hide" spot is gonna be in order to refresh shadowrunner. Make sure to be far away(but not too far) so that she doesn't auto-attack the mob.
Just throwing this out there, if you're 10 levels above an enemy, they wont aggro.
I mean on the segment map(on the Bigass Pad). Those "Note" icons are normal missions, apparently NPCs are in these areas. I haven't found any, except one(i think) that is on one of those "need skell" overhanging landmasses.
Contemplating making a 2nd Ares 90 or just going for decked out augments for my ground gear.
On a side note: Wishlist - Two separate skill pallets. One that is active when you are out of your skell and one that is active when you are in your skell.
I wouldn't focus much on the L20 skell, but if you want to pick up some weapons for it, kill the Puges in the Chapter 5 area of Oblivion to get some weapons to drop. Once you get your L30 Skell, it's worth it to farm some Phoenix and G/G2 Busters, from Puges in Sylvalum's Hilal Stronghold, which is the southern most tip, just to the right of where you enter the main continent, from that peninsula. You might not be able to make it to the Nav point in that area, as it's in the back of the base, but you can try to kill the three out front until you get the Phoenix, and then you can go just up the right entrance, to the send level, fire your Phoenix, and kill about 8 Puges at once, and speed things up. If you don't want to over-level, just save and mulligan until you get a drop you like, then rinse/repeat.
Also, if you exit your skell, go to Party, and select return to skell, you reset the enemies and weather, and you are put inside your skell, where you left it, so it's a quick way to farm without fast traveling.
You won't find the NPC out in the world necessarily; with the exception of Nopon camps, and the rare instance of NPCs out in the world, most will be somewhere in NLA and send you out to the icon's location. It's similar to Affinity Missions in which they all start in NLA but usually send you out into the world to complete the handshake icons. The icons that are in NLA will eventually have an NPC, with that red ? on the mini-map, but they are unlocked through story-play and doing social Blade Missions, as some of them are in a long chain of missions.
Alright thanks. Looks like it'll be one busy day for me.
The puges will directly drop the skell weapons, so you may actually already have some from earlier. For AMs, Sakuraba at level 5 will unlock lv50 skells for purchase. Also, assuming you're not lv 30 yet, one of the fastest ways to level using your lv 20 skell is to play hacky sack with some high level prone that won't link. I used the lv45 prone base west of the leaning ring lake in Oblivia, but there may be a better spot somewhere else.
My main group is all lv 30+ already. What type of skell should I be looking at buying? Light, medium, heavy, and any specifics? I have a few million but don't want to waste it on gearing up L30 skells for my group by buying the wrong ones
Just got skell license. How do I get more? Saw more frames in shop but it says I cant register them yet.
Also whats the best way to get to the northern 2 continents? Should I just swim? I've been neglecting a quest thats been trying to send me to Sylvalum for a while.
Edit: Nvm basically found a bunch of mini islands in the ocean leading there. So much faster and safer with a skell though.
I swam there for fun. It was a long ass swim, but I did it lol. Yeah the place is swarming with prone skells, and such.
Also what do I do if my skell insurance runs out? Is that Skell SOL? O_o
Well shit. I wish I'd known I could get out the 2 times mine blew up lol
Also I keep seeing rewards from quests called ______ series. What are those?
Holograms.
Okay, here's some Skell answers:
There was a question about additional licenses, but so far as I know, you don't need any more. You have slots for about 8 skells, but you can only register one to a character that is the skells level, so that means they need to be level 30 to use a level 30 skell. For you first Skell, I would buy the Heavy Skell Amdusias ST, as more HP and fuel is important then anything else until L60 skells. You can also buy the yellow armor that also boosts Thermal damage, so that your other weapons will get a boost from the Physical damage, if you pick up any. You really only need one, because the Phoenix and G/G2 Buster will destroy anything that is L50 and below, save for Tyrants and some giant type enemies. Those weapons drop from the Puge I mentioned earlier, and you're looking for a Intergalactic (red) version for your main skell. If you come across a Hearthorn, those are also a decent weapon, as are the SHD-Gravity, if you get one, but those only drop from the flying saucer-like enemies, and those are pretty rare at L30. When looking at other weapons, check thier Force, Ammo, and cooldown to see which does the best DPS. Also, buying a 153SA-Shield is also good because it boosts melee damage, to make your G/G2 buster hit harder.
If you're feeling a bit balsy, and want to fly out above Noctili's northern tip, and keep flying until you see an island, there's a +90% opening art augment that you should be able to nab, while avoiding the L90 Tyrant, on a small island out there. I don't recall what TH level you need, or which of the three it was, but it's well worth the time to go pick it up as it will just wreck even more havoc on stuff. Make sure to move it into the L50 version of your weapon, when you upgrade your skell.
Regarding Insurance, you get three lives on each skell. If you are on your last life, and your skell is destroyed, in battle, you have to hit the B bottom at the right time, and get a Perfect, otherwise you have to pay to restore the skell, and you might as well buy a new one then. If you get a Perfect, your Insurance kicks in and saves your skell. Do note that AI team members always get a Perfect, so register those skells to them and get yourself a new one. That, or be a Prospector and get a free skell insurance every day, and generally not worry about it. Of course, if you bail before your skell dies, then there's nothing to worry about, but the L30 skells are easy to blow up on 50+ enemies you come across.
The _____ Series are holograms you can use in your Barracks; they open up at some point, in the story, and you'll eventually get five of them. They are the same things that drop from Tyrants too, though an interesting fact: The more treasure gear you have on, the less likely those holograms drop from Tyrants.
Also, don't neglect your Nav point exploration, as you're going to start to need that Miranium to keep your skell going. Here's a link to some pictures on how to set up your probes for about 100K/tick Miranium and 150K storage; I would at least start on the storage layout, and focus more on money, until end game, as you'll need a lot of money to get L50 skells.
Thanks for the detailed answers!
