One of the worst-case-scenarios that can happen is that if North Korea pulls off a preemptive strike or whatever that ignites war, and after we've dealt with the initial assault and launch a ground-based counterattack, North Korea could just as well try an 'scorched-earth' policy with their weapons - in this case, nuclear ones. When it comes down to it, I'm pretty sure the North Korean leadership will have no qualms about turning the weapons on their citizens.

The end result of THAT ain't gonna be pretty.

You do understand that NK's C3I capability is at best from the 80's and hasn't had maintenance since then right? If Un is sitting in a cave somewhere, how is he going to communicate with his troops that don't have the capability and more importantly the will to fight for him?

Yes, NK could shell and have missile attacks on Seoul for a couple of hours, days at tops, and do you know how quickly those forces would be depleted, destroyed or abandoned?

How is it that people are saying NK's sanctions are a working? I've been hearing forever that Iran's sanctions only affect the citizenry while the government and military remain supplied and secure and it seems to be the same case in NK.

Preventing death from war is hard to sell as a positive when people are dying from starvation.

NK has a lot to lose. They're sitting on shit loads of minerals and resources. Most of their previous mining operations couldn't even be properly tapped due to inferior mining technology. I had 2 buddies from FFXI that did a ton of oil drilling up in Western Canada which were then sent over to SK for 4 years for excavation/mining operations in 2011.

All of the rich/natural uranium, gold, iron, oil, etc. deposits were all located near the border and beyond to the north. Funnily enough even though they were sent to SK to work, they often mined along the border with southern military presence protecting them.

From how they explained it, they're sitting on a gold mine literally and they're currently only letting the Chinese play ball (there's like 350+ Chinese companies currently mining out NK because they can't do it properly themselves).

I think a few years ago they did an estimate and said NK was sleeping on 6 trillion USD of goodies. Analysts now are saying those figures have tripled.
