Don't think any jet costs that much to make per se. But operational and maintenance costs on these are supposed to be significantly higher than previous models and like triple the actual production and R&D costs combine. Full projected costs of the program per plane over it's lifetime is like 500 billion though not sure how much of that we are footing since a significant amount are being sold to other countries.

That said last I saw a lot of countries have significantly reduced their orders which will likely make the price per one higher. And they were basically doing testing while doing main production or after they delivered them so are of course still finding more problems that need to be fixed so who knows how high they will get.

USGS have updated this test to a 6.3 on the Richter scale, which because of the exponential way the scaling works means this is much, much, larger than any previous test. By comparison his previous tests were around 30kt bombs. This one is estimated 1,400-2,000kt. That means thermonuclear, not atomic. So it would absolutely appear they do have a hydrogen bomb now. Not good. By comparison this would actually be larger than the largest nuke currently in the US arsenal (B-83 at 1,200kt).

Scary times since this totally changes the game. That takes things from a nuke that would take out an area measured in blocks to a whole large metropolitan city. I don't possibly know how we don't respond to this. Either way this cranks the odds of conflict way way up. I'm not sure how any neighboring country sleeps well tonight.

Worse yet, it basically confirms that someone or a group is absolutely helping NK. Likely paid, or possibly a covert alliance. But no way in the world does NK advance this quickly both on the nuke side and the rocket engine side without help. On the engine side, we basically know the factory in the Ukraine that was hard up for cash and either sold them engines, plans, or parts to accelerate things quite a few years. And to get thermonuclear bombs this quickly means the same, help from somewhere. North Korea will never admit it since they like to embellish their native accomplishments greatly, but I'm sure the spy agencies have a good idea where it's coming from.
