I mean, I would think that NK escalated shit by detonating a hydrogen bomb, but that's me.

When your enemy successfully tests a hydrogen bomb the last thing you do is say diplomacy is off the table.
When your enemy has a hydrogen bomb diplomacy is all you have.
FFS, thank you Niiro.
Nah with Drumpf and serial killer gen mattis all we got is fire and fury.
Also maybe restricting all trade with China. Because the economy is a myth and the recession in 2008 wasn't that bad.

saying diplomacy is off the table is a form of diplomacy. it is all diplomacy until someone starts shooting.
not especially, it raises the stakes but the game remains the same. we were never going to risk a preemptive strike even with the smaller scale nuclear weapons they had pointed at Seoul (and possibly Tokyo), and we are obviously not going to do so now that they have gotten larger scale. now as before deterrence remains the order of the day, and given our missile defense system is a joke we must continue to rely on extensive sanctions to try and modify their present behavior while promising massive retaliation, if not total annihilation, to try and forestall them ever initiating a serious conflict themselves.
I would be a lot more concerned about things as they are if we didn't have Mattis in his current role. I have a feeling he will have a large part to play in maneuvering the US through the escalations. He's shown no hesitation to break with Trump and speak his mind, and he comes with monumental praise for his service, so if things did get heated he's the best choice to see us through it.
Call me crazy but I'm not worried about the ol US of A if things get hot.
Im worried about some 'Fire missiles at a Syrian airport ' level shenanigans.
And Gen Mattis won't defy the commander in chief.
You'll have to forgive me if I don't think Trump is playing 4d chess here. Trump does what he does not because he has some kind of strategy planned but because he thinks that's what "strong" leaders are supposed to do.
Lil' Kim is loving all this attention and Trumps constant threats and lack of action only serve to perpetuate this behavior.
What Niiro said
Also, Mattis can't stop nukes in the night regardless which direction they are flying.

Japan making preperations to evac its own citizens from South Korea in the event of things going hot.
I feel like Japan needs to get Shinji in the EVA after that test missile. :/
We laugh. But Japan will have some new technology if it gets to war.
Come on mech!

I mean sure, they could always try to seduce Kim with one of their advanced sex dolls.
You know it'd win you over.
Difference is options. Sex bot might seem ok amid a bunch of cray cray uggs and having to have an actual relationship and such. But not so much when you literally got the pick of your entire country and can execute them, their family, and loves ones in order to keep things going perfectly. On top of that they have Dennis Rodman!
