Saw a number in an article that like 9 total people emigrated from NK last year. Other than that the whopping ~100 visas were for tourist/diplomatic reasons.

They're threatening to shoot down US bombers in international airspace (with what exactly their air-force is archaic compared to modern US airpower, last time I checked most of their military is ground forces).

Really though as far as I can see its the same BS again it doesn't change the fact that actually instigating a war with the State's would turn into a kurbstomp match very quickly for them. Feel's like Kimmy's gonna repeat history and make the same mistake his grandfather did by trying to take SK 70 years ago. As much as the bluster and bravado goes the US isnt likely to attack first unless Kimmy fire's an actual nuke tipped ICBM. He also would be stupid to actually attack in this situation especially in international airspace as that is basically FEEDING the Presidential Troll and giving him the excuse at least to go after Kim himself.

If a NK defector makes it through China to Taiwan they can fly to Korea where they're given citizenship for free. Getting through China though is brutal from the things I've read, if they're caught which a vast majority of them are they're sold to work on farms and their "payment" rather given to them is to basically be a slave in China. Once the gov't finds out what is going on they just take the NK defector and ship them back to NK, no slap on the wrist to the farmer. Once back in NK they're brutally beaten, scared and then after a few years get to go back to be in public.

Sure it's Taiwan and not Thailand? Read a story on how some North Koreans had to work their way through china then jump the border into Vietnam. They only felt safe when they hit Thailand because China and Vietnam would deport them back to NK where as once they get to Thailand they can surrender themselves at the police station and have the South Korean embassy pick them up.
