is anything worth getting from Skirmish now that Delve is out?
is anything worth getting from Skirmish now that Delve is out?
Since people are talking about the merit ws changes. I'm thinking about dropping one of my 5/5 to 1/5 in order to unlock 4 more ws. I currently have 5/5 Resolution, Shoha, and Stardiver. Dervish Sword DRK/RUN, Masa SAM, and Gungnir DRG. Thinking about getting 1/5 in Entropy, Shijin Spiral, and 1 to 2 others I haven't decided on yet. Exen for THF, maybe requiescast for blu/pld if that still has a use, but I have Almace, and possibly shattersoul for lol's on mages.
Which of the 3 I currently have 5/5 would lose the least going to 1/5? Not sure which delve weapons, if any, I'll get or attempt to get anyway. I'm sure that would have impact on the merit choice I should make.
Shoha and Reso 5/5, Stardiver 2/5, Shijin Exen Requiescat 1/5. Forget Entropy since only time you're using Scythe should be 99 Apoc and you've even less reason to use it now than ever before (ie. only for fulltime Cata spam)
Delve weapons are extremely easy to get and require a fairly small time investment for a massive boost, to not even try is stupid regardless of your ingame situation.
I'm gonna do the same. Will drop Ruinator and Exenterator a bit and get Resolution and Shijin Spiral instead. Altough I'm still a bit unsure on this last one, for PUP I could easily use Stringing Pummel which is an excellent alternative, but on MNK I'd really be stuck with nothing until they let me transport Victory Smite over. Not that I've been able to use MNK much (if at all) lately though.
I've considered Blade: Shun for my NIN but surprisingly enough, 1/5 Blade: Shun is a very very small upgrade over Blade: Jin from the tests I did on Motenten's spreadsheet. Dunno if I want to bother for such a marginal increase, I'd much rather spend that point to make one of the other WS stronger.
That sounds a bit too elitist, or am I misinterpretating your comment?
Altough in light of your long time experience and love for MNK I guess that's just a small consequence of your bias for the job.
Considered this, I guess I can understand it, but I don't really agree with the core meaning of it.
Anyway I'm considering getting 1/5 or 2/5 Shijin until I can unlock Vereth so thanks for the input.
Really? THAT much? Sounds like maybe you're overestimating Shijin Spiral a bit?
I did a very simple test on Motenten's spreadsheet, these are the results I got
Normal Numbers => Asuran Fists
Brackets numbers => Shijin Spiral (1/5)
First line => No buffs
Second line => Berserk+RedCurry
Chapuli
1810 (1861)
2712 (2770)
DC Nightmare
2225 (2317)
3352 (3450)
No denying there clearly is a difference, it just doesn't seem that "huge" to me, at least for these situations? (low level monsters and T+ monsters)
Asuran Fists and all the other low mod / high ftp wss get a lot out of the new high base damage weapons. Evisceration may fare similarly.
Well yes, it's almost useless to stack modifiers for Asuran Fists unless you're at capped attack. On the other hand though higher base damage and attack stacking produce really really interesting result.
For instance on a WS like Asuran Fists you don't have to bother about DA/TA, so pieces with negative penalties to those stats become even more awesome than they normally are.
Did positioning ever have anything to do with determining which Hydra head gets cut off, or is it just completely random.
About how much acc on average does a 2hander naturally have over a dw/h2h job? Trying to figure out when my mnk will be more worthwhile than my lolsam for Delve (I'd assume after getting delve h2h and starting the acc path, considering my mnk is much better geared than my sam)
THF and DNC DoT question: if Relic/Empy are out of reach, what is my best offhand choice with Aphrotic Kukri? Options include anything that can be purchased, Twilight Knife, Auric Dagger, magian OaT etc.
Also has there been any testing on the new DW earring set?
This is going to be a little mindblowing maybe, but if you don't have a 99 Twashtar/Mandau, you're probably best off single-wielding the Kukri.
For just cor is Surefire Arquebus (delve gun) + last stand worthwhile to use over arma90 + wildfire?
Looking mostly at SoA content since that's likely the only place I'll be on cor.
I know, but I recalled being told something about your positioning on the Hydra will better influence which head got chopped off also, which would mean you could focus on getting its right head off asap before it gets physical shield up.
Could have just been a silly untested rumor though.
Given the high evasion of Delve NMs, and the extra cRatio boost against higher levelled mobs, wouldn't using Spinning Slash over Resolution make sense for Bereaver-wielders?
Theoretically yes, in practice no. The high evasion is gimmicky and manufactured so Spinning Slash would miss too. The times where SE aren't being cheating bastards with evasion, acc is just fine if you retoggle gear or buffs accordingly.
Realistically if evasion/defence makes Spinning Slash outdo Resolution then the correct course of action isn't to use Spinning Slash, it's to job change.
Doing a little checking on some decent (but not best) gear sets for mnk and sam, I have mnk sitting around 530 acc and sam sitting around 570 acc. That's without using Focus/Aggressor/Impetus (Tantra body augment), though the sam is using Hasso (but not Amano, so no bonus from that). For reference, you need 545 acc to cap hit rate on the level 102 Chapuli.
Mnk and other 1 handed DD have obviously seen a much larger DPS increase from the huge base damage jump.
After putting new weapons into spread sheet Mnk seems to have moved decently ahead of drk and war rather than slightly trailing them. It also seems unlikely that acc is going to cause any issues either, mnk can comfortably get 600 base acc before making any real sacrifices (this assumes 2 rank 15 pieces of delve gear) and the option to alternate Aggressor and Focus.
If you need to start trading some acc in, you can do so with minimal DPS loss up to about 650 base.
I'm really not seeing that. Aphotic+Str Thokcha is showing up about 33% ahead of Aphotic single-wielded on thf. And on dnc, Aphotic+Pugi is 50% ahead of single-wielding.
Ah, though that was without Marches. With double +3 Marches, single Aphotic is slightly below DW for dnc; with double +4 Marches it's slightly ahead, and gains a bit more with double +5 Marches. On thf, though, +5 Marches still doesn't beat dual-wielding.
So if you're getting Gjallar Marches on dnc, it's better to single-wield. Otherwise, dual-wielding is still better.
On the order of offhands, I'm seeing something like:
Dnc: Pugi > Fire Thokcha = Tzustes +1 > Tzustes > Prax DA > Auric > Twilight > Prax OAT
Thf: Pugi > Fire Thokcha = Tzustes +1 > Twilight > Tzustes > Prax DA > Auric > Prax OAT
BUT MACOQUETZA
