I just did Crabs/OpoOpos in Dangruf Wadi (close to the exit to the North Gustaberg Waterfall thingy, there's a book right there, #8 trial) and it worked really nice for my lv 75 fellow, got it close to 77.
Bring a Tactics Pearl if you intend to stay there a lot of time.

So I did my first doubledrops Salvo run yesterday.
I got the impression that the max amount of plans a NM can drop is 4, no matter what.

This is because a NM in Bhaf2 dropped THREE tutelary and ONE Ritualistic.
My impression is that the NM actually dropped 2 Tutelary and 1 Ritualistic.
Game dried to double up those drops, should have been 4Tut and 2Rit, but we got only 3 Tut and 1 Rit, meaning there probably is a max 4 plans cap per NM?

On all other NMs we got either 2 plans (meaning only 1 dropped and it got "doubled") or 4 (meaning 2 dropped and they got doubled)

Anyway, even your reported result is "strange". The 4+1 you reported should have been 4+2. Means your tutelary plan didn't get "doubled" as it should have.

Drops just seem random, as if there are double the slots open, but none of it is guaranteed. I've had a few 3 plans of one type drop in both of my BR runs today. Other folks discussing it over at - http://www.bluegartr.com/threads/116175-Twice-the-Double-Campaign!-%2805-22-2013%29 including one group that got 6 plans off the one NM.

Dangruf should work since the mobs in question are lvl90ish, should last my NPC quite awhile. Other suggested areas are a tad low, would prefer ensuring NPC gets max XP per kill.

Already exhausted two charges on my Tactics in Misareux, nice getting nearly 2 lvls off the one charge at 100 mobs each, and I want to maintain that.

What don't you get? The mob drops 1-2 Tutelary and 0-1 Ritulistic. Double that and you have 2-4 Tutelary and 0-2 Ritulistic. 3 Tutelary falls with the 2-4 range, and 1 Ritulistic falls within the 0-2 range.

What me and my friends (and appearently a whole lot more of people) didn't get, from the tipically misleading SE description, is that the current system doesn't double the amount of plans you get, but the chances/slots.
Subtle difference, but still it's there.
We all assumed that mobs would have still got it's normal 1-2/0-1 drop rates, and that whatever we would have got from the NM, would have been then subsequentially doubled thanks to the campaign, while appearently it works differently as it has been thoroughfully explained by the link that someone before you kindly shared in this thread.

It's not actually a distinction at all, considering that doubling the chances/slots doubles your number of plans. That's just one way to accomplish what they said they would do.

You assumed that you'd only see even numbers of drops because SE would duplicate any drop that happened to fall, which would have been another way to do it that would have resulted in a less even distribution of droprates. I prefer this way!

Never said I preferred one over the other, just that it was different from what we expected and that initially left us particularly surprised and confused.

Are there any mage/support job focused equivalants to something like Motens DPS spreadsheets? Like listings of a range of the best gear options for mage stuff? I'm guessing no. Shit is a drudge coming back and updating like 5 jobs. I don't mean for DPS purposes but for things like nuking/curing/debuffing etc.

Head to the job forums on FFXIAH, there are guides for WHM, SCH, BLM up. Gives you a great idea of where to go in terms of gear. It's no DPS calculator I agree, but better than (the current) nothing.

Havn't play drg really since Delve stuff came out, Is the new weapon good (Non mega boss), and what's a build for it look like? Both High acc set for Delve NMs and normal.

Wadi will take it all the way to 95. Keep stacking up points for active time, buy memoirs after active time is maxed, every tactics pearl quest examine all 4 ??? for maximum exp.

Couldn't speak to new builds('cause Ryunohige has kept me in the same ones), but the new weapon pretty much puts DRG exactly where it was with a Gungnir pre-Adoulin. It's the best(reasonable) choice, but you'll continue to lag behind considerably. If you group cares about Angon and there aren't any Ryu around, you'll probably be welcomed. Otherwise, nothing's really changed

Sidenote but if you can eventually get your hands on Delve Boss PA, it performs far better than I personally expected it to. Not seen it used too much yet but the couple of fights I did see it in, it was pretty respectable.
