According to this Raelix guy, stringing pummel sucks and shijin spiral is superior with rigor. But then again, lolAlla

If I have food sanction, do I have to be in Aht Urhgan at the time I eat the food? or can I just get it and go anywhere then eat food?
Gonna increase the length of skill up food and need to know if I need to eat it then go, or if I can wait
you need to be in an aht urhgan area yeah
Well, aside from the reasoning I posted before, there's Motenten's spreadsheet too to compare both. They've always been close enough, but before Delve weapons, Motenten's predicted pretty acurately the ~200 damage difference between the two, favoring Shijin, that I extensively parsed in EP Dyna mobs. I find Motenten's spreadsheet confirmation enough of the suspicion I (and many others) had regarding this.
Uhmm... no.
At least with my gear (which is not the best for SS, but then again it's not the best for SP either) I get different results.
With low or no buffs SP is always above 5/5 SS.
When I start packing a fuckton of buffs (Food, Chaos, Berserk, Fighters, Minuetx2, Stalwarts) I get pretty random damage (see below).
Either way the difference doesn't seem particularly huge but SS has the additional bonus of Plague.
If you're having issues deciding where to spend your Merit WS points and don't have MNK, I wouldn't really bother with SS, especially considering you're likely gonna need 5/5 to make it worth it.
Reporting the damage of the "buffed setup" on different targets. (didn't use Rogue's Roll because that would give an advantage only to SP)
Here are the results with low buffs. Basically nothing except accuracy, because I didn't want that to be a variable in the test. As long as both WS sets have similar levels of accuracy it shouldn't matter anyway (altough I guess SS builds should get slightly more acc, in theory, because of the DEX stacking)Code:Ig-Alima: 1794 (SP), 1454 (SS) Qilin: 3323 (SP), 3256 (SS) Pil: 3448 (SP), 3278 (SS) DelFodd: 3950 (SP), 4120 (SS) Chap102: 4229 (SP), 4214 (SS) Chap100: 4229 (SP), 4228 (SS) BuffEM: 3904 (SP), 4201 (SS) HydraDRG: 3643 (SP), 3885 (SS) Fodder: 4229 (SP), 4228 (SS)
Yes it's a negative number that one on Ig-Alima o.O No clue what's goin on lolCode:Ig-Alima: 0305 (SP), -255 (SS) Qilin: 1383 (SP), 1079 (SS) Pil: 1499 (SP), 1082 (SS) DelFodd: 1856 (SP), 1744 (SS) Chap102: 2275 (SP), 2030 (SS) Chap100: 2392 (SP), 2183 (SS) BuffEM : 2117 (SP), 2094 (SS) HydraDRG: 1718 (SP), 1646 (SS) Fodder: 3164 (SP), 3104 (SS)
Guess it's supposed to be just a 255.
meh difference between 1/5 SS and 5/5 is like what 7-8% dmg? Not saying that isn't nice but still decent at 1... though I suppose asuran probably catches up by then if using rigors
Rigor ain't enough to make Asuran always better than SS, Oaxitur maybe. Rigor surely do help in closing the gap. But SS is a WS with much higher potential/spike compared to Asuran (cannot DA, TA, QA, modifiers almost have no influence etc). On the other hand it's also a more "stable" WS. At capped accuracy damage is always gonna be more or less the same.
And as for PUP the difference between SP and SS is very very small even at 5/5, if you also take off the 200-300 damage of difference that you'd lose with 1/5 SS the gap is going to increase making SS not worth to use anymore over SP.
My point was that for PUP it's arguably worth to go for 5/5 SS over SP, even worse if you wanna keep it at 1/5. So if you're having issues deciding how to spend your merit WS points and don't have MNK, SS is probably a WS you can skip to spend points in other ones.
What's the best Atams to use on Monk for Skilling up guard?
Tips for farming Dark Rings and Refresh Hairpin?
Been hearing conflicting theories, some say you should keep lights around 140~160, others say you should cap it.
Should I cap the Amber Lights? Also there's no better way to cap pearl besides VNMs right?
VNM, and any random timed pop NM that I find while building other lights is generally the fastest way to build pearl light, yes. However, depending on what job you're doing this on, if on WAR, and if there is competition for VNMs, you might be better off just retaliating several groups of mobs to build up pearl. It's not as fast as when there is no competition for VNM, but an option. When I had farmed brown boxes, I would always cap amber, then get azure high enough to get TE's (or it would cap, if I was CW'ing on BLU), then get frustrated when I'd get shit in those brown boxes.
My advice would be to just do it.
It's gonna take forever no matter how you do it, but find a groove and keep at it and you'll eventually figure it out.
Best way is to go BLU or RDM. Cap amber, get 128 Azure, and cleave.
I didn't have those jobs, so I went on DRK/SAM and used my Apoc. Capped amber on pavan with Infernal Scythe and MAB atmas, and capped azure with DRK nukes on clionids. Changed to DD aymas and went ham on saplings. They don't ruby but do give 8 azure/amber for capping or fine tuning lights.
5~ hours netted 2 refresh pins, a horde of shit dark rings, and the 2 I currently use (5/5 and 6/4)
What would you cleave with on BLU that's efficient? Charged Whisker is the easy-kill, but everything in Konschtat gives azure, so you'll be capping that regardless. Rotating a bunch of AoE physical spells for physical light build-up instead seems like it'd be quite the MP eater if you don't have consistent intense light chests also.
I did Tonberry for my rings.
What is "item level" that the devs keep referring to?
Paladin with a subjob that gives you Aoelian Edge, Azure to 110~ on any mob that gives azure, Pearl to cap/near cap on T1 VNMs.
Can Aoelian edge best on bugards (they don't deaggro since they run at flee speed) but other mobs work too. If you have a 2box you can use it to get rid of turul if you happen to aggro it when its making its rounds or just conflux it (will deaggro if it only has hate on you)
Anyone having trouble logging into ffxi? Crashed and now getting "connection timed out" messages.
Working fine on my crappy connection.
For MNK, does Penance still hold any value? Was thinking of dumping it for Mantra for Delve purposes, but I'm trying to think of other areas Mantra would serve a purpose. Granted, not like penance does jack in ally content, just low-man.
