Did Dex rank 2 because the weapon will be replaced soon enough, and the acc is more useful in that period. Content lvl 17 from Wildkeepers should surpass even a maxed plasm GA, if one of them happens to drop it. If not, Skirmish 2 may be near it. And once/if Shark becomes spammable, Razorfury won't be too harsh of a goal to reach.

We won't know until the update hits, but some of hope it's the case given how this kinda stuff worked in the past.

Not sure about fame price on scrolls. Anything that costed over 150k from NPC I ended up buying off the AH. 1mil of scrolls off AH vs. 7.2mil from vendor on my server.

Would be trivial to test with RNG (with af3+2 hands) + THF/WHM (naked):

1. RNG pulls mob.
2. THF cures RNG.
3. RNG uses bounty shot.

If bounty shot either misses or gives TH4, then curing someone on the hate list is sufficient to apply TH. If it lands normally and gives TH3, then curing is not sufficient.

I don't have the jobs to test this, but would love to see someone perform this test.

Test has been done. Curing someone with hate does not put TH on the monster. Feel free to repeat it though.

So, I recently put together a PC, and one of the multitude of reasons was so I wouldn't be stuck out of Adoulin like on my PS2.
I just reactivated, and logged in to get my bonanza marbles, and I did some fiddling with the settings and configs (it initially loaded fullscreen 640x480 and 4:3, that was a laugh). But I've never really touched the PC version of XI before, so I could use some help getting things set up right. My questions are fivefold.

Also, my current hardware

CPU - i5-4670k (haswell)
GPU - none (Intel HD 4600 integrated for now, adding a card later, market isn't right)
RAM - 8GB
Monitor - ASUS VH238H (1920x1080)

1. I currently have the game running S-E windowed and all resolutions at 1280x720, do I want to mess with the background and menu resolution at 2048x2048, or should I not do this? (Also, should I turn on graphics stabilization? The helpfile doesn't say exactly what it does or how it does it.)

2. I'm not going to do any .dat modding or whatnot, but I do know there is some advanced system tinkering to get the PC version looking even better, could I get pointed to a good and comprehensive guide for someone who does not know what the fuck?

3. The disc I installed everything off of was an old starter game disc from 2007 that I got for five bucks at Anime Expo way back when (it was for attempting to get a copy running on my old laptop, that didn't go so well). It had installs up to ToAU, but no WotG and as such my access to Shadowreign and Abyssea has been cut for now. (I have legit reges from the PS2 version.) Thanks to BG I generally know you don't NEED the discs to install the expansions, but I don't know HOW do go about doing that, halp.

4. I'm hoping Steam has FFXI's new Ultimate Collection on sale soon so I can grab a cheaper Adoulin reg code, but anybody got a line on a deal I might not know about?

5. I've got a Logitech F310 on the way, any pitfalls or things I should know for getting it to work with the PC and FFXI? (As I said, I popped on today to get my marbles, holy hell I can't control this with keyboard and mouse.)

1) Generally you want the background resolution at 2x the foreground resolution (so 2560x1440 for you) for best results, though you can drop that a good deal to improve performance and still get good graphics out of it. You'll have to play with it to see what your computer can handle vs what it looks like. Graphics stabalization was a recent patch that fixed some issues with nVidia cards, if I remember correctly.

3) You can either do the long, slow way of just letting the game run its updates, or find one of the torrents of the fully installed version (though many of those are just patch diffs, so probably not too useful). If you get a fully-collected torrent, basically just unzip it over your existing install, then run a normal update. It'll fix a handful of files, then move on into the game.

5) In general, don't use the mouse at all for controlling the game; it's very much not designed for it. For the PC, it's keyboard-only, or controller if you decide to hook one up. There's a couple options in the configs that let you separate the mouse from the game, too (use hardware mouse, and something else I can't remember offhand).

3, didn't work. Well, following Kohan's guide, everything went smoothly, nothing broke. But WotG and Abyssea didn't unlock. I guess I need a WotG installation iso then, nothing else will do the trick?
EDIT: Nevermind, it's good. The file check didn't happen when I started the game, I did it manually from POL's pre-log in screen and now they're all lit up except Adoulin, though now I don't have any character selection screen music XD

As far as I know, the only way to buff Dia's effect is with light shot. It's dumb, Dia even has a wand just for it but the thing is useless. It seems nearly everything relating to Dia only enhances its damage/tic or its duration.

Something within timers is forcing my ambient lighting off. I can't figure out wtf is causing it and hitting F11 doesn't bring it back to light either. if I unload timers it goes back to normal. Any ideas?

edit: some of the recast words/timers are grayed out, and there is one blank spot as well.

I don't think it's as bad population wise, but the value of coins has decreased atleast on my server. 5k/5k/7k but forgotten items sell for more 80k thought, 50k+ hope, 10-20k others. A number of people spam delve which I think has lessened dynamis farming, but I personally have not farmed in awhile so take that with a grain of salt.

Although cdgreg already explained things like currency value, could you elaborate on what you mean by "does it still suck"? Did you find it difficult? What specific goals do you have in mind? That may help the formation of a more accurate answer.

On my own server at around 3:00PM Pacific, I was enjoying farming San d'Oria for a few days without anyone else in the zone at all. Then, I once entered and faced the great challenge of a single BST being in zone with me. (Of course, the challenge was not so great, not to mention its not actually being a challenge.) You may sometimes encounter competition, but it probably will not usually prevent you from making progress, and it won't happen everywhere.
