Earlier I asked a question regarding upgrading Ghorn vs. 99ing a Ragnarok. Was told to make a Daurdabla before making Ghorn. Farmed plates for it no problem, but was unable to find sellers for Colorless Souls. Been asking to buy them at 350k each, which might be too low to get sellers to farm a pop item or whatever. Should I give up Ghorn/Daurdabla completely despite having 60M. Silvers and 20L. Jades on hand?

Farm it yourself? Might make you want to gouge your eyes out but certainly doable.

Try offering more. Original seller I had stopped doing them as much because 350k wasn't worth his time. I finally got annoyed farming them myself, offered 500k and found people pretty quick. I even had people asking me after I had finished if I was still buying...

I did both myself since farmers couldn't always farm. Was amusing when I was competing for T2s against them and didn't know it

If you actually enjoy bard, I wouldn't give up. Horn and harp 99 are about as good as investments get in this game

Yeah, atm I'm prioritizing my mules 99gjallar/99duar over basically everything else since it really is about the best you can do w/ that amount of gil in terms of over all increase in utility. Stan your ground!~

What's bare minimum for PW? I'm gonna try and see if i can farm a popset before embrava is gone.

What do I need for Umhagrik from meebles to make it reasonably safe in a pickup? Anything special? PD?
(I've never fought it before so assume i dont know the strategy.)

Aegis Pld, bard, whm. If you wipe the brd can hold with hymnus out of party until you recover. Position it on a wall.

As a warning, that's risky without the "optional" THF for damage on some forms. Having any sort of second DD that's not getting destroyed by the enfeebles is going to give you a lot more breathing room.

Beating a dead horse but smn is quite possibly the slowest solo job in the game by a considerable margin and isn't capable of doing anything more than other solo jobs. If you enjoy taking 20mins to kill things that should take you 5 then go ahead, otherwise there are a number of alternatives that will work far better with less work.
I enjoy playing summoner, and Ive reached the point on my 4 other 99 jobs that a single gear upgrade is a lot of work (either a pain in the ass NM for +2ing empy piece or salvage+1 gear upgrades)

So I decided to try out a pet job and smn looked fun. And I find its a helluva lot easier to do magian trials than farming any other event. Magian trials are "go fuck up some easy prey mobs for a couple hours" vs "shout for a few hours for a black mage to help proc your nm that is probably not going to drop your seals anyways"

And too note: Fuck SE for making all the Smn seals such a bitch. Head was the only decent one, but SE decided to make all NMs that are #1 for smn be the bitchy one no one wants to fight, so I had to settle for the #2/#3 NMs that apparantly just don't like dropping smn seals. Ever.

Took me about 45 kills on that fucking penguin in misareaux to get my legs, and this fucking rabbit in vunk aint putting out either (1 seal out of 11 kills so far)

Im duo boxing with a whm/blm + my brd/nin, and we hit about 30% of the procs, but when we don't proc its basically no drops period. So I'm stuck on the decision of either shouting for a blm to cover the other procs (and apparantly black mages don't exist anymore on quetz because several hours of shouting got me zip so that's why I just started duo boxing these twerps) or going in there and crossing my fingers I get brd or nin proc when I pop.

ALL of that fucking bullshit (which I enjoy mind you and I AM doing, just have feet and body left after a single day) versus "go kill a bunch of EPs on firesday"

Yeah Im going to say magian trials are a FUCK tonne easier. More time consuming? If you count the time spent between days as time then yeah they take longer. But late at night when nothing is going on and I wanna get some solo stuff done, magian trials are perfect, and its still a lot easier then "kill a fucking penguin 40 times and you perhaps might get a couple seals. Maybe"

The fact that you consider +2ing empy pieces "a lot of work" tells me that you can't be reasoned with and any further attempts to do so would be futile.

Well I mean for some people it might be kinda a bit of work... but for anyone who +2ing af3 would be alot of work making several trial staffs is going to be insanely longer unless this person is 100% solo with smn being its only job and refuses to lvl weapons for red procs or some other similarly rediculous self imposed restrictions working in tandem

Also to refer to his post pretty sure it's been proven repeatidly that all seals have same droprate. The small differences you see are merely reporting and luck differences. As far as seals go um stop going with ghetto ass setups? Shit I go thf/nin whm/rdm blm/brd which isn't really complete grellow but it's close enough to proc most the time. I get 1-2 without proc 4-5 with... so killing an nm 40 times for a couple of seals... yeah suck less. Seriously even back when I solo'd seals as a thf/dnc I'd get at least 1 per kill without proc. People probably take so long for shout because you keep trying to roll without th or a good proc tank

Penguin drops BLM and BRD, both VERY popular jobs...and PUP
Rabbit drops same quad set as Penguin.

Btw, its very convenient that you referenced ffxidb's drop rate on penguin as "the worst", but then refuse to use that reference about the rabbit , where its listed at 51%, and the other two NM's at sub 40%.

hand seals? Bugul Noz is a joke, but either way, Tessekehchen is worth good money for the pop item, if you're willing to warp out when you max out.
Body seals? Yaguaroui drops NIN WHM and RDM. Two of those are VERY VERY VERY POPULAR, the other is RDM. The idea that this NM is one of which " SE decided to make all NMs that are #1 for smn be the bitchy one no one wants to fight" is a joke.

Besides the obvious reraise function, where are Twilight Mail and Twilight Helm used these days?

Head - Non-strmod WS when not matching day for mekira, or even sometimes when day matches depending on ftp. Often seen in upheaval, catastrophe, entropy. sam-namas without a SZK+1. PLD CDC
Body - Non-strmod, multihit WS, with no greater rare alternative (Valk BP, etc). Often seen again in upheaval, entropy. PLD CDC

They're not always the best, but depends what you have access to and twilight isn't so hard to get at.

If you would take the 5 seconds to read my post, I said:
(either a pain in the ass NM for +2ing empy piece or salvage+1 gear upgrades)
And when I say pain in the ass I mean it takes fucking forever to farm up a popset, or the NM itself is a bitch to duo box. I didn't say +2ing empys is hard, I just said that a couple of slots on some of my 99 jobs have shitty +2 NMs left to deal with to +2 my empy piece. Maybe try reading a post before you reply to it.

I personally refuse to believe drop rates are the same after farming thousands and thousands of seals with linkshell members. Every time I fight ANY seal NM I always end up with a distribution that is horrifically skewed, where after 30+ kills (since I often farm seals for ls members with us in groups of 8~9+ so we need 16 or 24 of the same seal) We always ALWAYS had one seal done exceptionally faster than the others, and one that we just gave up on trying to finish.

Wed' have ridiculous skews along the lines of getting 50 of one seal, 24~26 of two, and 10~11 of another. Every. Single. Time. This pretty obviously pointed to a common/double uncommon/rare drop distribution that we all know square enix adores using with NMs.

I started keeping track of it for awhile and ended up with pretty close to 75%->50%+50%->25% distribution amongst the drops pretty close, and each seal was often dropped by 3 different NMs, one had it as its 75% slot, one in 50% slot and one in 25% slot.

I just assumed the distribution was so completely obvious (when you get 25 of one seal by the time you make your set of 8 that's a pretty huge difference in drop rates) that I didn't need to actually point it out to anyone.

As for my procing, I farm during the 4 hour period of Lightningday->Firesday where I have 33% chance at Light/Dark proc, which means Nin/Brd + Whm/blm has damn near all of my procs lined up. Just missing blu proc.

Finally: If I do get a blm then obviously I get the blm to go /brd and I swap from brd/nin to thf/nin, letting me hit the proc cycle AND get TH7 >_>

But even without blm I can hit most of the procs on the 4 hour cycle out of 8 hours, its the OTHER 4 hour half that I need black mage for and I have to sit around shouting.

Anyways, I finished duo boxing almost my entire set of af3+1 for my summoner, just a few more body seals and hand seals left. Total time was about 36~40 hours to farm all of that. In the same amount of time I'd have a fair portion of a single magian staff done. When you have the capabilites to solo/duo whatever the fuck you want and lots of time on hand, no, I don't qualify magian trials as HARD, I qualify them as TIME CONSUMING.

And if you wanna get really nitty gritty in details, another main reason I consider them casual is because I don't need to allocate myself to 4~5 hours of my day straight to get said staff, unlike dynamis / NNI burning / Legion / neo salvage etc etc

I can jump on, do it for 20~30 mins and then do something else. Soloability and that is what makes it easy and casual. Farming a pair of empy feet alone takes me about an hour on average, just to get the NQ piece, which is only a tiny portion of the final piece.

Putting together parties, shouting, farming, spending piles of gils on popsets if people don't want to farm, herding cats, competition, having to deal with the occasional shitty partner... These are why I consider farming Empy gear less casual then making a solo magian weapon.

    And THAT is the difference.

I'm referencing it as "the worst" because I just farmed all three of them for the past 36 hours, not some biased improperly submitted wiki's or database's information. Participation based submitting of statistics is horrifically biased and essentially useless.

You go farm those fuckers and come back and tell me the drop rate on smn is good. Go ahead, see how long it takes you to farm up a set of 8 smn legs with that fucking penguin. 50% drop rate, my ass.

"The guildwork plugin does not track the proc system or potential Treasure Hunter+ equipment, so it is not considered."

What I'm going to guess is then that proccing skews drop rates, granting bonuses in different levels, or further accentuating difference from small amounts to larger deviations.

So yeah it's still fucking biased. Maybe read the damn link you send me so you don't look silly.
