It's not the first time they did a parody of something without actually seeing/reading the source material. The same thing happened when they did their Inception episode as they never saw the movie but heard about it second hand.

The game of thrones and other shit was amazing, but all the Japanese/anime bullshit was the best thing for me. Almost as good as the let's fighting love song.

that kind of pissed me off, it's one thing to be like "well read the books!" if you're talking to people that know the show and are discussing stuff, but spoiling stuff for people that have no reason to expect it at all is pretty fucked

I doubt many show only watchers will even notice it, though.

That said, I thought the first one of these was great, the 2 followups were pretty disappointing. They quite literally grabbed the most popular jokes from the first one and repeated them for 2 full episodes.
