Um, when is the last time the US actually engaged in military action to help Israel in self-defense or offense?

We didn't even engage militarily in 1967. Our "support" is monetary/technological. They've had plenty of conflicts with their neighbors over the years that didn't involve US military saving them or even helping them out militarily.

That's really the only support that matters in modern warfare (training too obv if you wanna nitpick).

There's a reason why so many wars/conflicts fought by the US are against enemies using weapons we gave them.

Well, the US military might hasn't prevented Israel from getting attacked by their neighbors, and hasn't helped them when they are. So...this spectre of invincibility you are claiming they possess from their alliance with the US isn't borne out by history.

Most aircraft are slotted to be able to attack ground targets, only a few primarily serve Air-to-Air roles (though some excel more at that and really suck as CAS - irrelevant to a planned strike though)

If they went after N.Korea with simultaneous strikes, I'd imagine they would primarily use Tomahawks, B-2's, and a mix of whatever is in the region via Navy/Air Force. With the B-52 on its way out, the only dedicated bomber aircraft are the F-1117, B-1, and B-2, with the B-1/2 being the only "strategic" bombers we have.

Yeah, it was extremely difficult to shield my eyes from the extremely high level of U.S. involvement during Hamas' latest rocket attack which hit Tel Aviv and close to Jerusalem, or the daily rockets raining down on Sderot, or the return of Gilad Shalit, or the 100th time Ahmadinejad expressed his wishes for Israel to be wiped off the map, or any of the myriad attacks and persecutions against Israel and its population.

In short: you don't know what the fuck you're talking about. Plenty has happened to Israel and will continue to happen to Israel without the U.S. "nuking the ever-loving piss out of anyone who so much as spits within range of their capital."

This shit goes both ways, by the way. Israel is as much guilty as Palenstine and the other Arab nations are in this ridiculous war and I'm not making excuses for either side. But let's not pretend like the U.S. launches squadrons of fighter pilots every time someone sneezes.

Find me a recent example when the U.S. became military involved in or around Israel during a time when more than spitting "within range of their capital" has occurred.

Man. I'm getting really fed-up with the term "preconditions". It's like basically saying "Hey we want to wave our dicks and their face and have the consequences determined after we piss in their eye sockets".

It's just a shame Hamas isn't more accurate.

I think that video is relevant to pretty much every Israel thread ever. I know I've posted it in a couple. Is there a script the forum can run to just automatically post that video whenever someone mentions Israel? That would amuse me. Actually, they could probably do it through a word-filter. Replace all instances of "Israel" with the embed code for that video. Lulz. Also, the song is actually pretty good musically. I get it stuck in my head for a few days whenever I listen to it.

Anyway, what Lucavi is talking about applies to other nations, not to militant groups like Hamas. Ahmadinejad has said several times he wants to wipe Israel off the face of the earth, and the U.S. is a big reason he hasn't. Hamas doesn't have to fear the U.S. because they can just fade away and blend in to the civilian population. Guerrilla Warfare, etc. Any infrastructure the U.S./Israel hits is just going to kill/hurt local civilians, not Hamas. They don't need it. With nations like Iran, that is not true. You hit an airport in Iran, military jets can't fly out of it anymore. You hit an airport in Palestine, and... people can't travel. That's it. That's why the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq have been so long and difficult. We overwhelmed the nation of Iraq in a matter of days, but the organizations we were seeking to destroy just melted away.

Man if only there wasn't this noted and well respected historian who completely disagrees with you! What the heck was his name? Nor... Neil? Noam Chomsky, that's it.

"Israel is essentially a U.S. military base, the U.S. positions weapons there, that's a very close military and intelligence tie,"

I love how most of the comments associate "intelligence" with "liberalism", which simultaneously establishes the poster as both "conservative" and "stupid".
