Trying to get triggers to work on Xbox 360 wired controller on windows 8... tried EVERYTHING..
I tried using compability runners...

Tried XBCD and that got me nowhere...

I really need help because this is frustrating. If you can help please do not send me links to a how to because a lot of times it is outdated info...

Please help me and remember I am on Windows 8....

Are you trying to just get them to work for any game, or FFXI? If FFXI, you need something that changes them from "Triggers" (I think analog) to Digital buttons. Easiest to just use Motionjoy + ps3 controller I think.

Windows 8 should pick up Xbox 360 controllers without any driver installation or configuration. Have you tried that controller on an Xbox to confirm the triggers aren't physically broken?

There are two input standards for gamepads/etc in Windows. XInput, effectively the XBox 360 input API, and DirectInput, the long-running standard part of DirectX. Often, a game will only support one or the other, not both. Ones built for XInput will see the 360 controller (and in turn triggers) behave exactly as you'd expect. The official driver's DirectInput wrapper, however, maps the triggers as additional axis, not as buttons. So while it will still work in DirectInput only games (like FFXI), it takes a third party driver to get triggers working as buttons.

I don't know of a working third party driver for 8, since I haven't looked, but that's the general issue.

So I have decided to download FFXI on old laptop w/ XP. I am still downloading XBCD and when it gets to updating driver, I get a Code 10. Im really about to give up on this... anyone have any advice as step by step to get triggers to work for wired controller... I do not even get to setup screen for XBCD bc it does not update properly.. Thanks for the Help.

My bad for that post... this is just getting to me. Frustrates me that I was able to do this 5 years ago but now I cant on the same computer.

Please help me with a step by step process that still works for microsoft xp..

Also: I remember the last step by step post I used 5 years ago. It had a huge blue Galka/Bear at the top. I do not know if this helps or if anyone knows what I am talking about.
