Silver chips and breaks easily. Steel is used when fighting humans because of the sword combat. The clashing of swords with a silver sword wears them down much quicker.

That makes sense thanks.
It seems like he pulls out the appropriate sword for the situation automatically.
Which is actually super annoying whenever you fight a mix of monsters/humans (or animals). Clipping an enemy with the wrong sword type makes Geralt switch weapons, which leaves you just standing there like a retard open to attack.
I've had a few instances where he just randomly puts his sword away mid fight and I start punching them. I might be the champion of fist fighting in bars but a golem is going to win every time.
^ I laughed, I've had this problem a few times and it's super aggravating. I will say though, that it was hilarious punching out 3 wargs.
Can runestones be removed from weapons?
If you dismantle the weapon yes.
Yeah, you can dismantle the weapon/armor and keep the runestone; or remove the stone, destroying it, but the weapon/armor is unaffected.
I've gotten a few weapon blueprints but I don't know how to get them made. A few are the viper pieces and some misc others. Any idea what I do with these?
You need to find a blacksmith (not armorer). Some blueprints can only be made by journeyman blacksmiths/armorers:

I dont want to be a bitch or anything but is the combat in this game a little bad? I like the game but the combat just doesnt feel very fluid.
Nah it's definitely wonky. It takes a really long time to get used to it. It works once you wrap your head around what you're supposed to be doing, but it never feels satisfying.
Ursine armor iz best armor. I don't care for how Griffon looks at all in any of the forms, Feline looks decent for it's end set but not the rest. Playing an adrenaline build with whirl is hilarious when surrounded.
I don't know what build to do with my abilities. Any recommendations? I've been hoarding points for a few levels because I don't know if game has a reset.
Can't help with a build but you can reset points, theres a potion you can buy for 1k at a few shops one of which being in Novigrad thought the exact location escapes me atm but i think that its in the same square with the pyres you see when you first enter.
Oh, if theres resets then I'll just play around with different builds. Didn't wanna get fucked over later in the game.
Unless you have a very specific focus it never hurts to have points in Quen and the first tier of Axii. Otherwise it's a matter of of figuring out your armor preference (Light, Medium, or Hard) and building from there.
Fast Attack and Quen/Aard focus works well with Light. Yrden/Igni for Medium armor, and the aforementioned Adrenaline focus if you're rocking Heavy. Obviously in all these instances it's implied that you're using the associated Witcher gear.
