They mentioned that there was going to be some sort of system (likely Facebook integration) that separated "real friends" from Playstation friends, so no, not everyone will be able to see your full name. Anyone that isn't connected to you by some criteria will still just see your PSN ID.

absolutely hate the new UI, they've basically taken the new PSN store and slapped it on top of the OS. the redesign for the PSN store has to be one of the most useless, frustrating interfaces i've ever dealt with. whoever's responsible for greenlighting that design should be shot into the sun.

While I think everything about the current PSN store is worse then the old store, I can only hope that the new PS4 PSN at least loads faster because I can't believe the current PSN went live w/how terrible it is

Vita's OS was a change from XMB and still remained slick and straight to the point. If PS4 isn't as good or better in terms of usability, it'll be a pretty big damn disappointment.

I like the new UI, well not really 'new' since masonry has been around for thousands of years. It's slow as hell tho.

Im sure that having a seamless carbon copy of the current PSN won't be too bad. The download speeds, frames, and processing are part of whats so unbearable about the PSN (at least for me). Using it on hardware that is more than capable should make the experience more enjoyable.

Since I didn't purchase a ps3 I'm oblivious to everything regarding the UI and don't have an opinion on that. I do have an opinion on how it feels like video games are being pushed more towards an interactive/social/networking thing. Not to say it's bad, I just personally do not care at all about any of it. Maybe I'm getting too old to game(get off my lawn?).

Im 32 and feel the same way. I have no desire to watch other people play videogames (that's for little sisters) and i just want to consume the product I have purchased. Generally by myself, although I do enjoy local coop stuff.

They look at sites like twitch.tv and see the potential of streaming video game content. It would be awesome to watch some fg steams and have the ability to join, THEN share it. Hell, even sharing rounds or w/e in the SF thread would be cool. As is it's a huge pain in the ass to do all that, too many calories to burn for me.

I have never understood the game streaming thing, but whatever people like...idc. I can understand including it if it's something people want, even if I'll never use it. Same thing with the facebook/social shit. I don't have a facebook account, but I know people that post all sorts of shit on theirs so there's obviously a demand for it. As long as they make good games, I'll buy it.

Seriously, all this complaining, did no one ever sit on a couch with a friend as a kid and just watch them play a game, or vice versa, and shoot the shit during it? I'm pushing near 30 myself and I just don't get the general aversion to advancements like this.

I would only have an issue if something like this was forced on you. But its not, so who cares? If you don't like it, don't use it. But systems are made for everyone and some people will enjoy the features.

Which is exactly what I said. As to watching friends play, no...that never happened. If I had people over we were outside doing something. Playing basketball or football or doing crazy shit out in the woods. Video games was something I did when I didn't have anyone around. Only child syndrome I guess, when I had someone around I was taking advantage of that shit. lol

Go to the forum main index, open that sidebar on the right, scroll down until you hit the "Daily Trend" box, count the number of FF threads in the top ten.

As I’ve said many times before, PlayStation Plus is probably one of the best deals in video games right now. Pay about $50 for a year’s worth of access and you get tons of free games, plus discounts on new games. It’s tough to beat, and most of the games are actually really good. If you have a PlayStation 3 or a Vita, you’re silly if you don’t subscribe.

But then, what will happen when the PlayStation 4 rolls around this holiday season? According to a post on Polygon, PlayStation Plus will play an important role in that new console too. But how is still a bit of a mystery.

The post points the way to the PlayStation Blog, on which Sony Europe’s president and CEO Jim Ryan explained how Plus will function in the coming years with the new console in the picture:

We’re very happy with the service that we’ve been able to offer with PS Plus. It’s been really well received – the value is quite extraordinary and the take-up has trebled over the course of the past year. We definitely see that as a core part of the way forward. We’re not yet in a position to disclose our plans for the future of PlayStation Plus but there will definitely be a prominent role to play for it in the PlayStation 4 landscape.

I love it when people say they're getting free games with Playstation Plus. The main draw/reason to buy Playstation Plus (as I understand it as a non-ps3 owner anyways, and looking at a feature list on the sony website) is the "free" games right? They're not free if you're paying $50 a year for them. Sure it may be a deal, but since the actual online service for PS3 is free, you're not really paying for that and getting the games for free, you're paying $50 for a random assortment of games throughout the year.

Not saying it's a bad thing, and hacking/other bullshit aside, it's a way better service than Xbox Live (at least it looks like it), but let's not kid ourselves and say we're getting free games when you're paying for them.

Yeah its a stupid claim. But that doesn't change the fact that its a really good deal. I got my "money's worth" within the first month of having PSN+.
