The current event is a gala (they used to be called carnivals), which are on all the time. They rotate through the 5 colors every week or so. Unless you really want those two new Valkyries for collection purposes (they're not good enough to warrant their rarity), do not roll. The chance to get one is probably lower than 3%. As a general rule, only roll during godfests.

Tamadras are little critters you feed to your monsters for awakening skills, another way to enhance your monsters beyond just gaining levels. Only the final evolution stages of monsters have these skills. It's better to just hang on to them for now since they're so rare, and you don't have a set team yet.

I did some quick searching on puzzledragonforum.com, and it seemed that one of the better teams conceived with Umi&Yama was with Puppetmaster Santa, which is almost the same as Graceful Maiden. They're both Water/Light, healers, and have very similar stats. Valk has a bit more attack, Santa has a bit more recovery.

Is there a better setup for Umi&Yama? I'd like to know for my own reference as well. It seemed like one of the main teams was Umi&Yama, I&I, BlOdin, Santa, Orochi, Umi&Yama. Other than that they also seem to favor Light or Dark heavy teams. Do you have any other experience with Umi&Yama Anakron?

I think the real benefit of Santa in that setup is for the active skill to line up a huge combo, kind of like Yomi. I have a UmiYama myself, but haven't gotten around to evolving it, so no practical experience first-hand.

In general, one of the biggest strengths of combo leads and U&Y is the flexibility with subs. U&Y beats Kirin in flexibility because he covers two colors, and has native access to Dark. This is especially true if you have Dark delays or Orochi, in which case you don't need to slot an off-color Echidna.

So I don't think there is an ideal setup in general. A D/L (most commonly Hades) will cover all colors, so you have the rest of the slots to do whatever you want. You can load them for color weaknesses, utility subs, a multiplier if you want a big spike, gravity if you can stall, or even stat sticks like BOdin if you're doing low-end dungeons.

The new Valkyries are actually pretty decent. B/L replaces Sieg in most non-physical cases (pretty rare), and D/R can situationally replace Vampire in non-devil teams. I'd use them if I got them. But are they good enough to roll for outside of godfests? Not really.

Now obviously that's subjective, but truth is that the new Valkryies don't offer anything more than what existing monsters already do. B/L is a pretty unique color combination, but that's it.

Got my 2 Mystic Masks to evo Berserk yesterday, but can't support the team cost yet.

I also just realized this morning that I've been feeding him the water guard big bubblies as well as the blue porings this whole time. I've fed him maybe 5 porings with no skill ups, but my Lilith got 3 levels from 5 ghostrings... Damn bitch.

Side note: Is this a Ragnarok Online collab kind of thing? I know this isn't the first time it's happened, but the models look just lik the ones from iRO.

There's a Godfest coming up. I dunno if any of them are ones I would want to work with a Umi&Yama team but I've saved up enough for 4 pulls until I know.

Expanding your box means you can hold more pengdras/dragons/evo mats. Fun stuff.

I'd recommend not rolling at all. Over half of the 10 featured gods aren't useful (not including the exclusives). Yomi and Susano would be great, Orochi is decent, and AA Lucifer is always useful, but you have about a 70% chance to not get any of those with three pulls. And Orochi is not very useful unless we get his skill up (don't bank on it).

Next godfest should feature the new Hero gods, which are all fairly decent at least.

And don't feel obligated to roll just because it is Godfest. Check puzzledragonx.com and see what the God fest contains before committing stones to it.

I'm still trying to get a Hades after multiple Godfests...

Tower of Flare is impossible until I do something. Gatekeeping any sort of advancement. :D so strong.

Yea, Tower of Flare is usually when people get stuck for the first time. If you can't consistently activate UmiYama, you can fall back to mono-blue for a more stable team. You could also get on the Pengdra cycle for a few weeks to beef up all your monsters.
