so, yeah! thanks for sharing lol
One piece of advice I can offer is to really try to master a full row (6 orbs) early on in the game. Then slowly see if you can build two as you progress. This'll give you a feel for time while giving you a good multiplier for damage. When you're comfortable, you can slowly start trying to get two rows in. If you're in a bind, always take your time to count orbs and study the board as well as there's no time limit until you actually start moving an orb.

Probably not relevant now, but in time you'll get to see just how in-depth the game can get with different mechanics like TPA's (Two-Pronged Attacks), leader combinations, team attributes, synergy, +eggs, etc. etc.

Doing rows is worse if he isn't using the row enhanced awaked monsters. Not sure if you're using your Ronia yet.

Yea, and even then, rows aren't good until you have 4 or 5 row awakenings, I think, for single targets.

    And lots of new updates:
    http://www.puzzledragonx.com/en/news.asp?nid=248

holy crap at that Venus (both art and skill)

And FF x PaD Collab (may not come to NA):

EDIT: Also, as a general rule, keep all presents from the mail in the mail until you need them. Don't waste box space getting Tamadras when you won't even use them yet.

Good call. I hate cluttering inboxes, but I hate wasting space more...

I feel my wallet already slipping for the FF collab. :X It damn well better come to NA!

    Tamadra?

and yeah I'd spend money on the FF collab. all sorts of money.

I thought this was a match3 game... it's really not. it's a board manipulation puzzle game with RPG elements. the moment I realized I can sit there as long as I want and plot out the fastest way to move an orb thereby manipulating other orbs into the right positions was the moment I began taking this game seriously. sometimes I'm not even matching up the orb I'm moving, which is a whole other strategy I hadn't thought of before.

I am not using Ronia yet... I'm rank 18 I think? so I could technically throw her on but would only have room for one or two of the high-stat low-cost evo monsters. which, by the way, are amazing for beginners I'm finding! 300 atk for 1 cost? hell yes.

running a three/four-element team right now (depending on friend)... seems like a good mix of variety and focus at this point. I'm at the giants dungeon; just reached the battle with two ogre-types and got slaughtered on their first attack... might have to readjust my strategy. come to think of it... I'll bring in a friend with the 20/30x atk ability and make sure it's charged before the boss battle. that should work.

    Plesios (leader)/Bubble Chimera/Dragon Fruit/Mid Wood Ninja/Machine Golen Mk. II

Although Plesios's leader ability really isn't that useful right now; it's not bad (two water monsters on my team) but not that useful. hmm...

Just pulled a Low Water Ninja and I might level it up. the ninjas seem fairly useful at this stage; high atk and a very useful boss-slaying ability.

Tamadras are used to unlock awakening skills, which can be thought of as meripo for the cards. They add another layer of depth, and can make otherwise not-very-good cards competitive (e.g. Demon Lucifer, Yomi). But they're only available for the later evolution of cards, so you can't make use of them now.

For example, go here and look for the "Awoken Skills" section for Ronia.
    http://www.puzzledragonx.com/en/monster.asp?n=912

Ninjas are good, but they're attacker types, which lack RCV. For any team, you want a good balance of enough HP to take a hit, enough ATK to kill them before they kill you, and enough RCV to recover when you do get hit. Obviously, there are different strategies that let you completely forgo one aspect, but for now, you'll want a good balance.

Different monster types have different distribution of stats, so as long as your team is balanced, you'll be fine.

And yea, save your PAL points. The R3K Pal machine have very good monsters you can get for free.

There are a few pitfalls I want to point out, so at least you're aware of them:

    1) Auto-heal friend leaders - Archangel, Amaterasu, etc
They will automatically heal you for 3-5k+ every turn as their leader skill. Early on, these are extremely powerful and attractive, but they don't scale into late game, where even non-boss monsters hit you for 10k+ a turn

    2) Relying too much on attack active skills ("nukes")
Come endgame, with the exception of maybe one or two monsters, nukes are more like a joke of a skill, since they do fixed damage (e.g. 20x ATK) which barely scratches endgame monsters. Don't expect to be able to nuke monsters to death in the long run.

how soon do those R3K gods come out? I do love gambling my PAL points... even though I never get anything good. well, that Mid Green Ninja was decent. Bubble Chimera too.

I'll take your word for it though.

Oh, and never use the Pal Machine unless it says "Rare Evo Materials" may appear. Not worth it otherwise. Most of the times, it'll be fodder, but sometimes you'll get some really handy stuff like Devilits, Keepers, and colored dragon fruit. Look them up when in doubt!

I personally enjoyed the ninja you get from the Pal egg machine. They carried me a long way for little cost. Just keep in mind that if you evolve them to their final form, most lose their Attacker type and become [Type]/Devil. So if you're running an Attacker starter team, be ready to upgrade.

That would actually work really well for me later on, given Ronia's effect on devils... I think?

EU is getting them on Monday, we should be around the same time. They're going to cost 1,000 points, so that's give five times normal. But they're exclusives that you can't get anywhere else.

Normal PAL rolls are really just farmable stuff. These R3K rolls are basically mini version of REM ($$$) rolls. They have slightly worse stats and awakening skills, but they get the same leader and active skill, so they're infinitely better than normal PAL rolls.

Nearly all devils will work with Ronia for easy dungeons, but the best teams predominantly have monsters with either red or dark row awakening skills. Ronia herself has one of each. The ideal subs for her teams will have two rows (e.g. Byakko, Demon Lucifer), and most endgame Ronia teams will have 6-8+ total rows for the hardest content.

Yeah, but I think by the time you're ready to really use Ronia, you'll start to get better mobs. There's bound to be another godfest here or there that you could capitalize on. I'm sure you'll find farmable utility mobs along the way to help get you by like...

Naga: Evolves into Echidna, great for delaying enemies
Vampire: Evolves into one of two Vampire Dukes, great for orb changing heart to dark
    Siren: Auto heal, high RCV
Ogres: Resolve teams for situational dungeons like Keepers early on
Baddie: Evolves into King Baddie for devil type burst damage

so do your level up bonuses keep growing? because I just got +5 team capacity on my last one... way more than the previous levels.

that would explain how you could eventually put multiple gods on your team. would have taken forever at +1/2 every three levels.

also, just beat Fire Forest Nerva. moving along!

If you're not in a hurry to play, I'd wait until the end of the month for the godfest before rerolling. Normal rates are horrible.
