I know I don't frequently post but I just thought I would try and get the message out as much as I could :D

I'm not very good at explaining things/rewriting things so below is just a copy/paste of what I posted on ffxiah and I'm hoping that it can get some attention from you guys.

I am part of a group at my college that is looking to raise money for the families of veterans in the armed forces. We are collecting donations on behalf of the American Legion for the Mountain Man Memorial March The money is being used to sponsor a family for the event. The money will be used to cover the cost of lodging during the event in Gatlinburg, Tennessee.

Just to give all of you a brief description of what the Mountain Man Memorial March is, it is a charitable event intended to support the families of those who have lost loved ones while serving their country. The goal of the event is to give people a chance to remember and honor those who have lost their lives as well as aiding the family members with scholarships of the Gold Star Family. The title "Gold Star Family" is the name given to the attending families who attend the event to represent their loved one(s). Also, donations are given to the Army and Air Force ROTC programs at the University of Tennessee - Knoxville and American Legion Post #2.

As for me, I am a frequent lurker of these forums and I have seen quite a few other posts regarding donations for various things. I am taking a shot in the dark to hopefully get some support regarding this event and to promote the support for my service men.

If you do not want to put down my name in the purpose line for recognition that is perfectly fine as well. I am just hoping that we can totally fund these families and ensure that they have a blast at the event. No donation is too small and every bit is very much appreciated.
