I think this might be about as far on double-stuff as we'd wanna really go on this thread for poor Nirokun...

It's a big part of being a teenager/young adult/adult, and it's a big void in my life. I've done the hard stuff by myself already, and it's high time I started enjoying my life and stop feeling like a supporting character in someone else' story.

I know that there are a few things left to do before I really start trying (recover and change over into hospital work so I make enough money to live on my own decently), but I turned 27 today, all of my close friends are married/engaged, and I still live at home. I know it's all for a good reason, but I'd like to get on with my life ASAP.
I don't think its about being a "more experienced woman" versus what a person values. I have nothing against more open types of relationships but know that I would be unable to be in one myself, I'm just emotional or whatever.

I understand waiting to recover before entering the dating scene, but after that why not start meeting people and be in dating-mode as soon as possible? I'm not sure what sort of time commitment is involved in changing your job, but if you have spare time I can't see why it wouldn't be a smart idea to start looking. One thing I regret is never having actually been out dating, instead I pretty much hung out with a group and became attached to one person and then just started hanging out together 24/7. I think if I had met more different people in a less serious setting I could have avoided a lot of the problems I went through -- it also looks like fun.

Well, recovery will happen on it's own, but changing jobs isn't going to happen so soon. The problem lies in facial hair removal. I've been going to have my facial hair removed (laser/electrolysis) for more than a year (near two? idk), and it interferes with work as long as I want to keep my status my own business. My job as a visiting nurse now lets me choose how many patients I want, and when to visit them (as long as I visit them all once a month.) This lets me have some form of hair removal every month (allowing the hair to regrow between sessions), without anyone knowing. For laser, I can shave and even work the day before the treatment, but afterwards, it makes the treated hairs darker/thicker (burns them and they kind of clump up before falling out.) I "lift" these darker hairs out manually, and it takes a weekish to get them all (they're "stuck" for the first few days, then release and can be lifted out after.) Some are deeper, and slowly emerge over a week's time. Also redness. I cannot just cover the dark hair up with makeup, I've tried and I cannot do it. Electrolysis requires more time, because I have to grow out the hair beforehand for a couple days, then it gets treated (and I'm swollen), and I get little scabs all over my face that, again, emerge over time (the treated/burned area is inside the follicle, which comes up as it heals.) This I can cover up decently. However, I cannot start working in a hospital because I cannot control my hours. I would have to agree to someone else's schedule, and I know I would not get the week-long breaks I create for myself now, to do hair removal. It is workable to have electrolysis while working at a hospital, as long as the hair I have to grow out is light, which would be difficult for patients/coworkers to see. It's a big headache. I might just give up and try and work openly as a transwoman, but idk how that will fly because healthcare is conservative ("Help, my nurse has a beard!" I might as well fall over and die.)

I want to work at a hospital before dating so I can support myself. I don't want to be dating and living at home at my age. (I would absolutely rather date a longtime friend who knows the deal and likes me for me, it's much harder to "convince" a stranger to date a 27 year old transsexual who lives at home with her parents...)

I would imagine being a transgender, you would refer to yourself as the sex you want to be not the sex you are. Niro has probably been calling herself her for a long time now.

Can you wax and do laser treatments? That is what I do because it last longer and does not cause the hairs to grow thicker like shaving -- no idea if laser contributes to hair thickness. I should wax more frequently I have a ministache going on (oops) and my brows are fuzzy :/ I thought electrolysis was supposed to be permanent? I guess it depends on how much hair you are talking about, where your primary growth zones are and how uncomfortable you are with your facial hair in public. I would think most people would be too polite/embarrassed to comment on someone's facial hair. Where does someone draw the line between a woman with a beard being a transwoman or being a woman with a health condition/bad genes?

and you won't be "convincing" anyone, I'm more concerned about your ability to beat them off with sticks.

Yes, but it needs to be done many many times.

Any form of pulling hair out is discouraged, because the hair that is untouched by the previous laser treatment will be treated the next (effectively or not depending on the hair). The root is needed, as it is closest to the blood supply, to receive the laser, heat up, and burn/cauterize the blood supply and damage the follicle to be effective. Plucking hair in general is discouraged for electrolysis (which should follow laser hair removal), because it deforms the follicle, making treatments less effective (more time/$$$/pain). Electrolysis is currently the only formally recognized hair removal treatment to earn "permanent removal" status. Laser has "permanent reduction". Laser is still relatively new, and it could possibly be considered permanent removal with more time/improved technology.

Electrolysis treats every hair individually, and is labor/time-intensive; I receive a 4-hour long treatment monthly, and it only gets rid of hair from my face (from the jawline up), leaving the neck untouched. It's $300 for 4hrs, with no bonus to doing a lot of time. With laser it was $150/treatment for the first 6 treatments, then $50 for every treatment thereafter. She does my whole face in the span of an hour, and it doesn't hurt nearly as much. I stopped electrolysis and chose to go back to laser post-op, because I had a lot of regrowth of dark hair (probably due to the testosterone surge 1 week post-op), which is easily/more inexpensively treated with laser. The treatment was so effective this time I'm considering stopping electrolysis for a while and picking up laser again. Also, this means I don't have to devote all that time to electrolysis, and miss those dilations (even if it's once a month, I'm super slow and would lose a dilation because I dawdle. lol)

In Thailand, because I didn't have the foresight to pack my shaver, I was rocking a beard for 7 days (not a lot a lot, but the 7th day was quite a bit imo), and I didn't care because fuck I was post op, in a foreign country, surrounded by people who knew exactly what I was. No fucks given. Other than that, I haven't had facial hair in public since the last time I grew it out (just to see) before I started hormones/hair removal, it's not something I'm particularly proud of (except when I was post op, I was telling the other girls that I was post-op, and a viking, and we all had a laugh. :D)

As far as the line between a woman with a beard being trans and a woman with a health condition (ex. PCOS) or just otherwise unfortunately hairy, it depends on the person. It would depend on their entire presentation, and as much as I "passed" before hormones and hair removal, I don't want to be back to that place in my life, no ma'am.

I don't get that "vibe" like they know. Certainly not the men (I get hit on enough at my job), and I'm asked when I'll finally get married/pregnant by the women. I've suggested that I might just have dogs instead of children, show cute pictures/movies of dogs on my phone, and they look at me sideways because they don't see how a person can love pets like family, and tell me that my time will come (to get pregnant.) My bosses don't inquire about my personal life as much (I think it's professionalism), but they have been perfect with pronouns since the beginning. There's always the possibility that people know and are are just being careful with it, but I don't know. I work in a home health agency that's dominated by Africans, and I don't want to sound like they don't have trans-awareness, but I don't think they do. lol

I'm half Filipino, half white. One of my bosses calls my other boss:
"Hi, Miss xxxx! I'm here with Miss Nichole."
"Miss Nichole, you know her, the Spanish lady."

I really don't think they know, or pay much attention to me, and I'm totally fine with that (and being the Spanish lady, lol!)

I can see you sitting with the guys as they are chatting about something penis related and say "I know how that feels" then walk away like a boss.
