So why isn't this surgery performed in the US?
I would imagine because Thailand is a lot more pro on this stuff (and probably much cheaper). Sex change surgery in the US is insanely expensive afaik.
@ niro glad everything worked out!
On the sex pain thing, I can sorta? relate. After giving birth sex is painful until about 6-8 months after. I never dildo'd it up during then so can't say if there was a difference. Just that HOLY SHIT BALLS THE FIRST TIME HURT MORE THAN MY VIRGINITY.
congrats niro, hope your healing goes well.
Dr Suporn is generally considered (one of?) the best.
It's really expensive either way, unless you're using a lesser surgeon. Suporn charges ~$16k, and then there's travel and lodging costs, and such. It's still cheaper, but not by as much as you might think.Sex change surgery in the US is insanely expensive afaik.
Happy New Vag Nirokun. That should be a thing.
I found it funny that a poster named Builttolast is commenting on Niro's man made vag lol.
It is. We have Marcie Bowers in CA and Christine McGinn in PA performing it (and others, but these two come to mind.) Dr. Suporn is just better. He costs as much as a US surgeon, which is way more than other Thai surgeons, but delivers a better result (uses his own technique and it's not penile inversion) and superior aftercare. The only drawback, imo, is distance.
If I didn't go to Dr. Suporn ($18k), I'd have gone to Dr. Chettawut ($8-9k?) in Bangkok because his technique is the closest to Dr. Suporn's (he studied under Dr. Suporn and doesn't use penile inversion.) Dr. Suporn has the most experience, and the man is an artist.
Travel was $1336 round trip, a month at the hotel was about the same (I messed up and changed plans part of the way through, and ended up paying a little more, but whatever.)
I ran out of gloves to use while dilating, so I was lubing up gloveless, and MY GOD THE STITCHES. They're dissolvable so hopefully they start falling out more in the next few weeks. There are black ones and clear ones, apparently the clear ones stay in much longer (months instead of weeks), so we'll be getting to know eachother for quite a while.
(I hate dilating, goddamn. /rant)
Grats Niro~
Still on the fence about whether I actually want to know all this detail or not though (LEADS TO ODD MIND PICTURES), but here I am reading it >.>
I know its too early to mess around with yourself and start having sex but I for one am looking forward to a full review after your first couple of sexual experiences, if you'll divulge that is. I'm always curious how it feels from my girlfriends perspective and even more in this situation.
Good luck with recovery!
At the very least, it's interesting reading material. I really need to get off the computer and sleep more between my dilations, sitting here makes me dilate late, and not rest (horizontally) between dilations like I should, which ends up leaving me exhausted. Now to dilate. :/
That's actually much less than I would have thought. 18k seems reasonable. Aren't you an RN, Niro? Thought I remember that from somewhere, or maybe I just seen a pic of you in scrubs. Anyway, we see one night ICU beds go for 18k...
It's not bad. But with other out of pocket expenses to pay for (because my job sucks like that), saving took time. I don't have rent to pay or anything, so I blocked out this time in my life for it. I can't really do a normal work schedule because I need to do hair removal without patients knowing, so I can't work that much. And yes, I was in nursing school when you were considering nursing.![]()
(I just finished dilation, YAY! Now I need to douche and make breakfast/tea and have a few hours of sleep because hot flashes ruined my sleep at nighttime.)
I'm actually thankful for this amount of detail. You'd be hard pressed to find any other detail from anyone you might know in RL, unless you're like best buds.
It's fascinating and it doesn't exactly happen often. Plus, someone in RL would be really inclined to tell you probably out of embarassement.
Personally however if I have anything done to me I'm very graphical to the point where if I know I'll be devulging into some detail, I would warn the person I'm speaking to about it.
Agreed, that is also my next thought. As Niro has said before, it's hard or difficult to tell your other half about the truth of it all (i.e. do you tell from the beginning, or do you tell, so you have to be absolutely sure he would understand. Likewise, I am also curious in how the other half would take it and in general curious about this situation/scenario overall.I know its too early to mess around with yourself and start having sex but I for one am looking forward to a full review after your first couple of sexual experiences, if you'll divulge that is. I'm always curious how it feels from my girlfriends perspective and even more in this situation.
You never know; I would like to read and anticipate her feelings should I come into a similar scenario one day. Reading and absorbing about it now makes it all the better. I'm very empathetic afterall.![]()
Not that I'm trans but the scientist in me also would like to hear about the sexual encounter. I wonder how good of a job those surgeons did.
Not to burst anyone's bubble, but this might take a while. MAYBE my first boyfriend before I turn 30. Other girls had guys lined up as test subjects, and seeing as how I've never been in a relationship before, I don't think it will be the easiest thing to get going. I was telling one of the girls there~ that I didn't have issues with confidence in other aspects of my life, but with guys it's just a mess, not feeling good enough, etc. I was encouraged to move to Washington to pursue tall, white, nerdy guys craving asian girlfriends. Also, my gay husband lives there and wants me close by. I'm strongly considering it, and I KNOW I'll be visiting him someday, hopefully in a year-ish when dilation isn't running my life (the asshole was saying I could come now, and just dilate in the bathroom, in the tub... jerk.)
