We need tp and skillchains again. It took much more skill...., yet none of them mentioned the spam fest that xp parties are at high level in 11, its like the reverse of what 14 is trying to do lol

Why are people hitting my mobs? It should be mine only when I claim!,

My XP party has been grinding mobs and its not enough xp, you need to lower xp from leves, quests and dungeons..

<call1> tp at 115%, i will now execute a pre-decided upon ws to make a skillchain based upon what a website told us

    -OR, LATER-

i'll just do a ws whenever i can

again, executed correctly that can be fun. and it was. but don't diss something else for being easy or lame when that's what your dding strategy consisted of

Some of that actually gave me such a bad headache that I had to go lie down for a bit. And have a few shots of jagermeister. Why do people think this way? What could possibly be appealing about walking backwards through life, always thinking "Man, it sure was better BEFORE, nothing will eeevvvvveeerrrr top it"?

Level 15 dungeon was really fun. Wish it was more story oriented, or some story to go along with it. Good intro dungeon though to new players.

One thing I do dig is the new music placement. Multiple songs for leves, unique ones for FATE, better story fight song placement, ect. I was very pleased with all of that, and actually dragged out some fights just so I could hear them loop longer.

Another is the stability of the zones in terms of frame-rate. The lag still needs work, but some games absolutely cripple your framerate when people are rolling all over the place. Beta has been smooth on that front; the world still moves at its ambient pace without dropping frames, despite imput lag or others sliding around a bit.

I love these idiots that talk about challenge on the OF's. Lol someone said "leveling is too easy, just a bunch of fetch quests, where is the group up and kill tough exp mobs with strategy like in XI"

    LOL @ that.

First off, in XI, what challenging mobs for leveling? People avoided all the hard mob families to grind exp on, this is why we fought crabs, crawlers, bats, beetles till we could fight weapons/statues in sky. I don't remember Goobbue grinds, Ooze/Jelly, Eyes, Gazers, tonberries, bombs, shit even spider parties people used as a last resort because they feared sickle slash. When sea came out, conventional parties didn't go up there and those mobs hit like trucks, only exp I remember there was usually smn or blm burns.

There was so many pussies in XI, there were so many instances every exp camp would be packed and you would suggest some off the wall place, like bats in Bostaunieux Oubliette and people would bitch out because the place was too dangerous.

    This.

I'm surprised there are so many people on the OF that want to get out their pitchforks every time someone badmouths FFXI. I played it for several years and had fun with it, but I don't run around claiming it was the second coming of Jesus.

That said, the thread about some level 12 idiot not having enough "challenge" for his LNC was tough to read. Anyone that believes the game should be challenging at such an early stage is severely deluded. Even so, I thought the first dungeon available to testers was fun and engaging for the whole way through. Not to mention there was little downtime for the entire run, something XI had too much of.

Got to play second dungeon and stuff before the server just closed a minute ago. Was an interesting retake...

Also yes to all the new music. I especially love the "miniboss" music during dungeons.

A lot more streamlined than in 1.0, but still pretty fun.

I think that's what I liked about it more. Less back tracking and walking through places you've already been through and more constantly dealing with enemies while you progress. I was just a bit more entertaining I guess!

Can't say I disagree with what's written above, but since you guys can't help it I think it's time to create an OF/BF/FFXI HATE thread, that way threads such as this one remain about its original purpose.

One could say it was fun to buy expensive gear or get some nice rare/ex item from notorious monsters in ffxi and level up at a really fast pace but in order to do that people had to farm gil which was a large factor to this sense of accomplishment. In ffxiv you get nice gear for free, the only thing anyone has to worry about is doing activities that grant experience points so the feeling of accomplishing a "big goal" is lost in this regard. The big goal in ffxiv is not about reaching the level cap but it will still be one for the less hardcore grinders and farming massive amounts of gil, the new big goal is gearing up in the dungeons in order to be raid ready then get all of your endgame gear for each class/job. Leveling up every craft and racking in the wealth will ofcourse be a huge undertaking so there's no lack of accomplishment there. It just becomes more optional as i'm sure the economy won't be nearly as brutal as it was in ffxi.

That's because materia hasn't been implemented in 2.0 yet.

I had more fun yesterday than in all of the 2 years playing V1.

Was going to say more, in response to Agito but then realised I'd be breaking the NDA.

No, sir, you missed the good stuff.

The stuff about how XP back in 1.0 was better.

"XP in 1.0 was FASTER. XP parties were insane," was the reply.

"No, before Yoshi-P came along," came the retort.

(o.O ) ....there was some thunder and lightning in that thread.

Going to mention that next time it comes up on the boards. >.> Excellent point. I should have thought of that. x_x

As a Paladin, I got a kick out of tanking spiders in the Tree, but Sickle Slash did have a way of bringing a party's pace to a crawl. >_> Folks seem to look back at waiting for the WHM to get MP for Raise (since you had to REST between fights, as the OF seems to have forgotten), and then wait five minutes for the tank to unweaken, while folks dropped party 'cause they would rather wait for a crab party that would move at the same pace but not involve so much idle time, which is kind of a hoot, but I'm easily amused.

Then there's that five-alarm moron Yurisan >.> who, if you are here, Yuri, please say so, so I may bring up the Paladin thread on Lodestone - who feels that 1.0 was simply a better game all-around. Man makes a habit of protesting the existence of 2.0 at all.

This. I haven't done any post-Alpha raids yet, but the development team is really on the ball with questing, FATE, single-player content and mechanics. I still make use of all of my job abilities and weapon skills as LNC26. Everything is still useful.

I have no idea how you managed to get to 26 with certain crucial leveling systems completely non-functional, unless you're one of the few that it was actually working for.
