    One thing that people in the Beta Forums who complain that leveling is too fast because of questing seem to be missing the point of is that because all of these quests can only be accepted just once, while taking one class to 50 will be relatively easy and accomplished within months (or just a week if they're hardcore, but that's true for all games really), taking a SECOND class to 50 will be a much steeper climb because they've exhausted them. For those people who want partying on random mobs for the exp grind done, I suspect when people start leveling second classes it will be a viable option.

    Can't say much, but partying on random mobs is actually quite viable if you know what to do and where to go.

    Yeah, if you want a sneak peek at a more realistic leveling speed, avoid any non-class quests.

    Well you figure we'll have 3 cities each with starter quests, then 2-3 dungeon grinds to hit 30+, then whatever they haven't told us already. Right now they've got it built in for 3 classes, which basically supports 1 job if we apply the old system of 1 job has 2 classes they can pull abilities from. I'm assuming this was intentional in design. Past that I can see it getting slightly more difficult to level if you don't have leve allowances or enjoy the FATE system. If you have a set group, I guess you could grind mobs, but that doesn't seem like an incredibly good way to go about it since this game is trying to modernize and, for anyone who has played an mmo in recent years know, mobs give piddly amounts of EXP in general. Dat quest XP is where it's at.

    Even for the prolific JYB, that would be a bit of a stretch.

    Especialle the female roles. (O.O ) Imagine some hot Highlander chick blowing the stuffing out of a Magitek armor, a new NPC central to the story (because it's high time we stopped having teenage girls be the vehicles for story exposition in FFMMO's - looking at you, XI). Badass armor, razor-edged longsword, eyes that burn like cigarettes, short skirt, long jacket, aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand when she opens her mouth, the first thing you hear is Vash the Stampede.

    Pictured it in my mind's eye. Ended up snorting some root beer up my nose. >.<;

    <o.o> Also, as a PSA unrelated to this particular post: certain game content has been mentioned that should vanish in a hurry. It's for the best. Don't want anyone to get banned just 'cause everyone's excited. ; ;

    The great thing about making a PT for exp in this game is that you don't have to just grind on mobs endlessly. If a FATE pops up nearby while you're grinding on mobs, the party can just drop what they're doing and go join in FATE and the exp is just as great. It's a splendid way to introduce a welcoming break to the mindless grinding and actually adds a sense of adventure to it all.

    I don't think you understand why the grind is a good thing! Let me explain

    You see, at level 10 you'll fight a blue crab, and you'll continue to fight this crab until level 20. Here's the good part though, at level 20, you'll now be fighting the same blue crab but with one letter difference in it's name and it's in a new area. You can do this all the way to the level cap! I MEAN COME ON MAN DOESNT THAT SOUND GREAT?

    You shat out a watermelon-sized human being from that thing. Should be ready for anything! If you had a C-section, then I'm sorry, no one can help you.

    It's to easy to get anywhere. I want the old days of riding a chocobo for 10 minutes to get to the spot I needed then zone into the place where the party was and have to run another 10 minutes to the camp (with sneak and inv). Now that's Adventure.

    Everyone is in such a rush these days. It's all about the journey not the destination.

    Also bring back level cap quests.

    And the funny thing is that our satire would, with little modification, make for a legitimate post on Beta OF/Lodestone. ._.

    I'm not sure whether to laugh or scream. >.> So long as Yoshi P ignores them, I suppose it's all gravy.

    Oh god, Aquarius memories. Hey guys, I think we can take it. That camp had the added bonus of the NM bunny Unut.

    I agree, with the stipulation that returning, years later, to slice Guivre into a dozen small pieces with Resolution spam was a tremendously satisfying moment. >.> One of those "Oh, yeah, I'm finally quitting, better get all those To-Do items done."

    I fail to understand why anyone longs for Dhalmels in Bibiki Bay, for example, or the damn brown birds in the same zone, with Helldive, tremendous evasion, and "oh you don't have a hauby? /pcmd kick LoserDuJour".

    Seriously, they want that again? >_> DRGs sitting LFG for hours? DRKs being a general laughingstock? Nobody giving SAM the time of day 'til 65? Must we return to WAR/NIN x2 RNG/NIN x2 THF/NIN WHM/whocares to make them understand?

    Aquarius.. So many fond memories of him.. Like aggro 9845967 crawlers and crabs and zone (back before they despawned) or chainspell escape then come back in to take screenshots of all the dead gil sellers.

    Memories, nostalgia, whatever. SE makes a ton of money off that already. In the MMO world, that's only gonna go so far and besides, SE is trying to attract "new" players to XIV, not just the same people who bought FF2 on SNES, then bought it again on PS1, then again on PS store, then again for DS when it was remade. Those aforementioned factors may be what kept some of us Legacy players going, but some of us also enjoyed the game for what it was. I hated grinding, even in XI. Shit I only had PLD, NIN, BST, RDM, and WAR to 75 in all the years I played. I only leveled RDM as a tank (RDM/WAR yep...), and solo'd BST from 1-75 with the exception of a short duo I had from 71-72. Grinding sucked to me because I had to ask myself every single day "Why am I killing these crawlers for hours on end?" Yeah, I'm one of those players that needs a reason for why I am doing what I am doing which is reinforced by the game itself. Meta-game crap like "Making my numbers go up" or "earning XP" have never been driving forces for me outside of personal accomplishments (being first NA to cap Parrying on my server for example). I think that's where quests came in but people are getting tired of that shit too. The new content they added (which was mentioned already but I am refraining from since it breaks NDA) is a welcome addition and was something I guessed at months ago. Gotta turn "achievements" into something more than a number reward and I think that is just what that system accomplishes. It's also nice that it doesn't carry over from class to class *wink*.
