    Seriously. I can't find a good reason.
There is no good reason. The only reason you'd want SJs over armoury is if you think the armoury has "to much" freedom and you wanna be restricted like a dumbass.

Off topic (what isn't), after playing other games, just seeing people type like they are using the auto-translate (with and without brackets) in normal speech irritates the shit out of me. It's like the majority of FFXIV players that use shout forgot how to speak English properly.

Only if you have problems with typing or with English in general (just sayin').

Oh wow. That voice acting thread apparently got deleted or something because the poster made a new one with the same topic. Someone go make the suggestion for JYB to voice everything there, I can't be chuffed to post anything on it.

I can fully understand why people would want to replicate the FFXI experience, even though it has so many flaws. For me, it was a pretty personal experience because, even though I played other MMO before, during, and after, it was the first time I really was able to share a common appreciation, for the FF world, with other people who felt the same way. I was attached to my character, the world, and the community that I played with, despite a full understanding of better systems out there; I played FFXI for the things I loved about it and played WoW for the things I loved about that game.

I'm pretty sure a lot of the OF's feel the same way (probably many of you here too), but unlike us, they are simply unable to, or don't understand that you can't replicate the feeling that the past gave you. I understand that it's something that can never be replicated again; it's like your first love in that it will always have a place but it will never be replicated. I'll always remember it fondly, but I've definitely moved on and am looking forward to the future.

lack of "weight" to weaponskills due to the GCD being same for all skills
Can someone tell me what the hell does that mean?

I think he just defined Global Cool-Down.

It's just irrelevant because each ability has its own cool-down, the GCD is just there for pacing.

But what does that have to do with weight? unless im totally misunderstanding what having weight behind weapon skills mean, it just makes no sense at all. obviously GCD is the same for all cus its well.. global

Also nice to see some more positive comments showing up now that people are doing more content 25+. You think by the end of next weekend it will be even more positive? lol

I imagine he's just trying to say that a weaponskill feels less important than it should if it doesn't have an obnoxiously long recast. That's mostly achieved through stamin-... I mean TP cost now.

He means you can use a lot of them compared to XI's "auto attack for 20 seconds between each weaponskill at low levels". Surely he's comparing XI's early-game experience with 2.0.'s, right? That more of something equals less weight behind it... somehow. Surely he wouldn't be so foolish as to compare an end-game experience with XI to an early-game experience with 2.0., right?

    ...Right?

This man must have loved the old days of fighting pugils in Quifm and Valkurm pre-sushi, that extended that 20-second wait between weapon skills to something like 40 seconds. Even more if you were scythe Drk or gaxe War. Ah, yes... those were the days.

20 seconds? Try over a minute :X. For your scythe DRK example, using a 528 delay scythe would be just over 70 seconds with no missing back before the 2H patch.

lol oh, I thought when everyone was talking about weight behind the ws, was because of the animations used, and it being floaty etc.

I was trying to be nice, since there's so many XI-purists on this forum.

We both know the truth, however.

90% of the game was badly designed, but I'll take challenge any way it's thrown at me. Not knowing what to do was what made me stay.

Nowadays, games are 90% awesome and all, but you can play them with your eyes closed, cause everything is like... right in front of you.

Not saying there isn't hard content in some games, but still, everything is like... right there. lol

No se como explain that any better TBH, but I'll take last gen's learning curve over this one's any day. :3

Interesting how opposed fans are to the combat system that resembles old FF's better than anything aside from that turn based korean MMO from a while back.

Cause there's a balance that needs to be established. We can make fun of FFXI all day long, but when someone complains that the hunting log doesn't say exactly where the mob is located (happened on Tonberry), you have to kinda sigh. Exactly how easy do we want these games? It doesn't need to be EverQuest, we've established that. But it shouldn't be playing Connect Four by yourself, either.

I have hopes that FFXIV can find that balance, but it's no forgone thing.

I'll take a challenge that's a real challenge any day.

Not a challenge that's waiting for weeks on a 24h pop to claim against JPs or bots or assholes to get dat Ridill. Or waiting 16 hours to get a party and spending a year to get to cap.

Just because games like to hold your hands (so you know...you learn how to play them properly) doesn't mean challenge has suddenly disappeared. Those things don't have to be related even though they often are.
