My scored stayed the same but the new benchmark did seem to look better and run more smooth.
Bumped me up about 50 pts, didnt notice much difference.
Okay, the 7950 came in and I have the results with the new version of the benchmark. Didn't quite get 8k, but I'm still pretty happy with the results.

Hmm, how do you get it to display 4095 MB of VRAM when my card only gets 2778 MB?
Updated bench and the new 13.3 beta 2 drivers got me up to 6814 with my 7950 running at 1045/1550.

Dedicated video memory != VRAM
I ran the new benchmark last night. About 250 points above my previous score from the old benchmark.
No overclocking yet, all stock:
i5 3570k
Gigabyte HD 7870 GHz Edition
16GB RAM @1600

With the old benchmark I was getting 5999, new one increased my score by 259.
i7-930 4.0GZ
MIS HD 7870 Hawk OC
6GB RAM @1600
I recently upgraded from a 5870 and my score only went up by about 920 on the old bench. I figured it'd go up more than that but I guess my cpu or ram may be holding me back.

(note this won't be exact)... but...!

Upper left corner "products" -> search ->add 5870 ->
according to that, the 5870 and 7870 are not too different, which may be the reason for small change. Although personally I would look at the FPS rating to see how the game does, not look at scores. 30FPS+ entire time = playable imo
(as a side note, some people mentioned more ram = better score, 16GB+ range, of course thats mainly because once you benchmark, the whole things being cached and loads faster... but oh well!)
On an i7 4.0ghz 16gb ram HD7870 and the newest bench was getting me just over 7600 which is plenty for me but would have loved to been in the 8000+ range.
Just to add to what Gulk noted, in the 5000 series the 5870 was their top of the line card, when they changed to the 6000 series the x870/850 line became the mid-range and the x970/950 became the top of the line. That is likely why you aren't seeing as much of a difference. I have a 6870 myself and people with a 5870 score quite a bit better than me as well.

So I tried again after seeing seeing some posts to turn off HT to improve benchmark scores. Did this, enabled Lucid Virtu, and OC 5870 to 890mhz and 1290mhz from stock and got the below.
