That is likely why you aren't seeing as much of a difference. I have a 6870 myself and people with a 5870 score quite a bit better than me as well.
I tried OC'ing my card a bit more and managed to increase my score by 309 up to 6567 at 1920x1200 and just over 7000 at 1920x1080. I knew the 7870 wasn't top tier but it is a few tiers above the 5870. Anyways I'm pretty happy with the results I suppose. I'm not getting scores quite as high as Archdizzle (~7600@1920x1080) but his cpu is much better so I guess that accounts for some of the difference.

Sorry if I'm late to the party

So I have just OC'd my FX-8120 chip to FX-8350 specs (4.2Ghz, 2600 HT link, etc) and have a GTX570 OC'd to 850/1050. It can handle most everything, though I'm waiting for Far Cry 3 key to come in the mail. Long story short, my scores float in the 3100 - 3500 range. 16GB RAM at 1600mhz, Win8, no trouble with the rig.

    Alternatively, on my sweet-ass HP Envy 17-3077nr laptop, i7 @ 2.2Ghz and 7690m XT card, I hit the 6000s.

I am too upset and all to search through the 360+ posts, anyone know if I need to ebay the 570 and invest the extra $200 in a 7970 card just to score better? I'm in the beta and FPS lag to 20 while in town, 30 in battle, 40+ when the scene isn't busy.

    Thanks in advance!

There's something up with your computer, there's no way you'd score that low with those specs.

Also, since you mention your laptop scoring 6000, I guess the benchmark was ran with the medium preset/low res on both?

Why am I the only one seeing a dramatic decrease in score from fullscreen? Went from 7700ish to 6500ish.
Using 3770k, 670 power edition stock. Tried all available drivers, all score in the 6.5k range.

That sucks... I know the 314.21 drivers lowered my score about 70 points. This score is using the 314.22 that I'm guessing were released today?

Are you able to duplicate the 7700 score by using windowed? I know there is a way to goose the score by taking focus from the window or something to that effect. Is it possible that when you scored the 7700 the first time the benchmark may have messed up and 6500 is your actual legit score?

Ur right, custom settings to highest possible performance at 720P... I dont have any trouble with SC2, ME3, Tera, SWTOR. . . No matter, selling the 570 and used credit card points for HIS HD7970. Thanks for confirming my suspicion that something is up.

Windowed mode scored 7500 with a lot of crap running in background.

I recently replaced my GPU from a 480 to a 670 and bought some more RAM so now I'm up to 18GB from 6GB. Gained a good 1.5k-2k points on average from it.

Something seems to be off with the Fullscreen mode though. While I did score slightly higher (20-70 points) the quality was much worse. I got a lot of screen tearing that I never got when I ran the benchmark in Windowed or Borderless Windowed.

If you have Aero enabled in Windows 7, it's innate vsync was preventing screen tearing while you were running the benchmark windowed.

Updated to latest nvidia driver, still garbage

I updated the driver, installed GPU-Z and ran HeavenBench. Scored 605 with everything at max and AA 8x. That was on par with other gtx 570 card scores on another forum. Still doesn't explain why the laptop tears up FFXIV bench on lowest settings.

I don't need help anymore since I'm upgrading the card, and hopefully won't have a problem with the motherboard. I can't see how there is such a huge disparity with other benchmarks, and wanted to leave final thoughts before I get back to you with the $400 HD 7970

Oh forgot to mention that I disabled my second monitor, and reverted Windows settings to optimize performance (disable most effects)

Hate to be the one to say it, but current AMD CPUs are shit for gaming compared to Intel's offerings. You'd be better off taking that $400 and investing in an Intel LGA1155 setup and OCing the crap out of it.

Haswell coming up soon. They arent looking to perform that much better than Ivy, but maybe they will run cooler.

Yeah I'm trying to hold out for haswell to come out, to see what performance it does and jugde on an upgrade then, if anything the 3700's intel series will be bumped down in price a bit near/on release day!

Also don't forget nvidia plans to release the 700 series in a few months, and also another titan series video card soon (cheaper then current one).

Doing my best to holdout before upgrading, for the best price/performance upgrades on my pc...!

Performance increase CPU wise is marginal, akin to the jump from Sandy to Ivy, the increase in performance is in iGPU, which will be a lot better but meaningless for people who play games.

    Haswell Performance Review

Also, prices aren't going down, Haswell will be a tad higher priced than Ivy and Ivy will stay the same, though that is still a rumor, it was that way with Ivy when it released.

    Lower the settings

    a 660M is a very weak GPU, it's around a Radeon 4870/5770 performance wise

Thanks for your reply Icarian! Very kind of you
But I knew others who got inferior spec's and scored better, on the other hand I took your advice and reduced the resolution and scored 3.9k on maximum settings, also 6k+ on high settings with lower resolution.

But do you suggest to replace the gpu then or over clock or somthin?

It's a Laptop so you can't replace the GPU as it's most likely soldered to the motherboard, overclocking a laptop for regular use is also ill advised because they're prone to overheating.

To be honest, I'd recommend you to get a desktop if possible, getting a gaming laptop that can compare to a mid-high spec desktop can get VERY expensive.
