If I want to crossfire, do i need 2x the same card?
AKA do i need 2 7870 or can i have like 1 7870 and 1 7900?

It depends which 7870 you have AMD's crossfire works a little bit differently than Nvidia's. For example all 7800 series cards can crossfire except for the ones using Tahiti LE chips because those are technically the same GPU used in the 7900 series. So basically all 7900 series cards can be crossfired with each other along with 7870 XT/LE line which uses Tahiti chips.
probably nothing..... I scored over 18k with 2 gtx 680's but what people have to remember that after a certain point you need to be looking at MINIMUM Frames per Seconds. With max settings at 1920x1080 I can get no less then 60 fps minimum which is great. I have a 3rd 680 in a spare computer that I could be in my main pc and see if I could score even higher but whats the point? getting 200-300 fps on some scenes doesnt mean anything in game. I took some screenshots in the benchmark and here are a intense parts where my frames are at there lowest....

and here is when frames are too high...... just look at the cute little lalafell of mine <3

also I think at the moment the have set FFXIV ARR to run 60 FPS Vsync cause im on a 120hz monitor and cant get it to vsync to that... I can limit the fps to 120 thru nvidia control panel but the I get screen tearing cause its not in sync....
[IMG][/IMG]
maybe they will fix that... but they might be limiting it to 60fps for input lag purposes like fighting games like street fighter 4..... omg.... did I just post a pic of nsync....![]()
i see thanks
Hopefully all these high scores actual transfer well ingame. I recall someone that got over 9k with the original benchmark to only be able to get 20-30 fps in towns.
I just ran the 1.0 Benchmark and noticed how terribly optimized it was. IT also crashed and BSOD'd my PC.
The first ARR benchmark was unoptimized. I also noticed the Beta was unoptimized with GPU usage around 70% and frame rate in the 40s.
I am sure that as much as they optimized this new benchmark they have optimized the game itself. I think the game might perform better than in benchmark though, imo.
I just ran the benchmark with 3 way 680 sli.....
[IMG][/IMG]
here is my 2 way sli score...
[IMG][/IMG]
only gained 2000 more points with 3 way... but its all useless frames added.... my minimum still seemed to stay the same at about 60+ fps
Scaling after 2 way SLI has always diminished greatly.
Ended up running it in windowed, it scored 12.5k as opposed to the 8500 it scored full screen, didn't think it'd make that much of a difference.
^ that makes no sense lol
From what I've seen looks like the benchmark is CPU bound because it's not multi threaded, you can't get much higher than 24k no matter what GPU configuration you use, that's why people with 2 780/Titans are not getting any better score when adding a third one, the CPU can't keep up, it's already pushing near 250 fps.
So for those people crossfiring AMD 7970's (or some other similar card), what drivers are you using? I'm assuming the 13.8 drivers with Frame Pacing on? The benchmark keeps crashing for me midway, and during the time that it does run the score calculator doesn't even seem near what you guys have been getting. Running at a single card with the 13.8 drivers/13.7 drivers gets me barely off of 11k of a score. Not complaining, really, as the game will run fine, but what gives? Granted, the 13.8 drivers only have Frame Pacing on for DX11/DX10 games (DX9 will be later), so maybe that's one of the reasons perhaps it's crashing.
Anyone have similar trouble?
Specs are:
Sapphire 7970x2
i7 2600k @ 4.0
16g dd3 1600
ssdx2 raid0
EDIT: Also just noticed that for some reason, the gfx card in settings and in the results window shows up as 5800 (it did this in the beta also). Not sure if that makes any difference.
Spoiler: show
Edit: 124.364 FPS
Process Explorer. It can show you individual thread usage, among many other things.

I didn't meant to say that it was literally single threaded, but it's not exactly optimized (like most games) to run on many threads, like for example the 12 threads of a 39xxk, or make use of HT at all, thats why you see no performance gain when adding more than four cores/threads or enabling HT. When you're pushing almost 250 fps in a modern game that's not well multithreaded (as in, not making use of more than 2/4 threads or cores) you're gonna be limited by the CPU, SLI of 2x780 scores almost exactly the same as Tri-SLI Titans not because its bad SLI implementation but because the CPU can't keep up with the GPUs, it's a bottleneck.
When the dx11 version comes out next year it should run even better right? I remember in wow people were saying they got around a 20-30 fps increase even in cities and stuff
I'm really excited for this to game to come out it looks like the most beautiful mmo I have seen in awhile
