BG had all the best theorycrafters back during XI, years ago, a lot of those people got old and moved on or are going to sink with the ship by playing XI till the end(many have no interest in XIV due to 10+ years invested in XI). Even if they play XIV they might not be able to devote all of the time they did back then to deconstruct mechanics.

The salvage thread was a beauty to behold back then, hell, even Dynamis threads or CoP wyrms.

This depends entirely which BG you're talking about. At this point you've got like BGv1 Edwardtheblack, BGv2 Berticus, BGv3 Sendoh, BGv4 Sonomaa, BGv5 Blazer, WoWBG1 idfk Berticus?, WoWBG2 Russta?, you know what I don't know shit about WoW BG or XIV BG, but both have been at least two iterations apiece, and I wouldn't be surprised if it was more. What I'm saying is, there's probably a "TheOrderoftheBluegartr" or "BlueGarter" or whateverthefuck playing either Final Fantasy MMO or otherwise, but I doubt you would recognize much of anything. I haven't seen Ondori make a video nor Septimus bother to pen an ode in years and I doubt that's going to change any time soon

Edit: Oh, let's not even get into the fact there was WoWBG XIV (Rabanastre) and FFXIBG XIV (Palamecia) and BG Forums XIV (Palamecia) though the last two weren't that much different considering "FFXIBG XIV" died in about two weeks cuz the game was awfulest at release

Why were we even discussing the fact that BG isn't what it used to be? No one ever challenged that notion in the first place. It's a given. The comparison to the rampant, unchecked, drivel that is the official forums is what's absurd. We're not devoid of it here, but using every opportunity to make that remark is the only trolling that's going on.

Slightly on topic: Is there a non-NDA-breaking answer to how/where one obtains minions in game (rare drops/dungeon drops/quest rewards)?

About the minions:
Depends if you're asking about beta or retail. When it comes to retails then Yoshi said that minions will be rewards for different content, like you mentioned: dungeons etc.

XI was indeed a lovely game, aside from the gerbil wheels they kept us running through.

(o.O ) How many years did it take for Adaberk to be replaced? Or has it even been replaced yet?

Who else here went 1/144 on Skirmish Pephedro in Bhaflau Remnants? ^O.o Yeah, my crew did.

How many years were DRKs stuck with Spinning Slash as their only useful WS? Eight? Colibri don't count. >.> Nobody cares about DD numbers on trash mobs.

How many years did it take to replace Sidewinder? Gekko/Kasha? Penta Thrust? Vorpal Blade? This bit of amusement here is further compounded by how relic weapons offered basically useless weaponskills after a hundred fifty million gil and a year or two of work? Scourge? Please. >_> Metatron? Kinda useful. Not 150m useful. Kaiten/Namas were exceptions rather than the rule.

Who here actually broke the mold on merit structures? (<_< ) Be honest now. Didja merit Third Eye recast for Ballista? Can we call that diversity?

Is not every boss in the game still capable of basically oneshotting anyone and everyone sans Aegis/Ochain? >_> Yes?

Do we not still see alliances going for broke in zergfests with Perfect Defense and/or invincible/magic shield powder rotations?

(<o.o) XI was fun in some ways, yeah. I finally quit XI in '11 (yeah, I went there), and loved it dearly, and, in fact, had tears in my eyes when I finally logged my PLD out forever, standing next to the waterfall in Lufaise, where I tell myself he built a cabin and lived happily ever after.

But I'm very well aware of what a deeply flawed game it was.
