With everyone from gaming forum NeoGaf to Reddit weighing in with their thoughts, which are almost universally against Orth, the Microsoft employee has found an unlikely ally, though -- the very person he was debating.

"A dear friend of mine @adam_orth is getting a lot of flak, some unfairly," Heir tweeted today. "Let me say he's one of the good guys and cut him some slack please."

"You should know we are good friends who joke around with one another. Don't read too much into our back & forth," he said in another.

Orth, who has since switched his Twitter account settings to private, describes the exchange as "just the normal daily back and forth I have with Manveer" and apologized to the cities he might have offended.

Potentially breaking NDA, making "public" statements mocking or intentionally trolling people? Pretty much every large company makes you sign forms that state any public statements you make that come back and look bad on the company are terms for termination. Good thing Chris Brown only needs to sell shitty music and not consoles. It would basically amount to us gamer consumers allowing Microsoft to push a DRM model on us for the next generation of games. This is a gigantic selfblow to Microsoft's video game image, lol.

Highly doubtful, but we will see in the next 6 months. Vocal minority or not, gamers love their used games. Hinting a DRM model and then telling everyone to "deal with it" preseents a huge problem for the gamers, and word spreads these days unlike previous gaming generations with everyone connected to Facebook/Twitter/LinkedIn. Especially when they are supposed to be making a public showing of their system this month.

Of course the system will still sell to the common gamer as well as the people who will still buy it because of XBOX only series, but this really did damage to their brand towards the gamers who are very particular about their spending dollars.

I'm guessing Microsoft will definitely abandon any DRM model they currently had in place while this fiasco dies down.

I made up my mind a long time ago that if/when I purchase a next gen it will be ps4. I'm still debating on getting a ps3 (I'm cheap!) just so I can play The Last of Us.

This shit went viral and Microsoft needs to save face. It started with the "vocal minority" with the rumor mill. Once raging white guy tweeted his shit, it went viral. Lame ass Funkmaster Flex posted about, it's already reached the casuals and can quickly turn this into a WiiU lolfest if MS doesn't get-up and distance themselves from the obviously "uncool" image generated from the "rumor" and response.

PS4 is going to steal all of Microsoft's hard-earned "street rep" if they don't act fast lol

The only reason I can think of, for why Microsoft wouldn't outright deny the allegations, is because they are true. And they can't say anything about it to lessen the harm because any official confirmation will basically fuck them. There best bet is to introduce it in a way that can soften the blow as much as possible
